Read today on another board that the AMR jets that were leased to TSA, and have since been returned to Eagle are failing inpections left and right. Supposedly, AD's had been pencil whipped and were out of compliance for very long periods of time.... meaning TSA flew pax in unairworthy aircraft.
Reportedly three FAA inspectors are under scrutiny, and that the "inpsectors" were former TSA employees.
Anybody with more detail or facts?

It does not come as a surprise at all. I thought dmi stickers were standard in the cockpit until I flew at my new job. Now I might see 1 per week, and almost never more than 1 on any aircraft at a time. Trans States even got some bs award from the FAA for maintenance back in 03 or something. When I mentioned it in the interview RZ laughed. I never understood that until I flew for them. What a joke.

The "award" TSA brags about isn't an award. It's just a certificate for attending a conference on MX once per year.
Doesn't surprise me a bit.

I thought eagles mechs were camped out in tsa hangars?. Wouldn't it make sense for them to run through the aircraft before they got it back on property.

The feds were crawling all over the hangar at STL before those planes went back. They were hanging out there during overnight mx ops and everything. The STL mx guys aren't dumb. They wouldn't do anything to put their own certs on the line. However, if they got this stuff past the feds in the hangar, its the feds heads that are gonna roll.

Wouldn't be the first time TSA's been popped for pencil whipping. I seem to remember GoJet having a couple unmet AD's and an undocumented engine change about a year ago.
But that's a different company...

I don't think so. I was a prior 14 year AF Crew Chief and I've spent sometime w/the guys over at ABL. I think they're doing the best that they can with what they're working with. I don't think they can find eveything, but we have to remember, an airplane is an airplane.
We used to get brand new F-15's from the factory with a few hours on them. They would sit broke for weeks waiting on parts! A couple would get hangar queen status.
