Newsflash: RAH just bought what is left of Midwest. Link to the article on yahoo finance, and another thread about it has been started.

I think they can create a holding company to bypass the seniority integration language of the contract. F9 had some clear language in theirs and Lynx was created under a holding company. Not knowing that is their plan... but I am sure they DO have some kind of plan. |
Yep, they're going to put us against you. Sadly we're all going to lose sight of this and the only ones that will win are the Executives.
Frontier has very clear language regarding scope. So do we. This will likely get ugly and sadly we (pilots from all carriers) are the ones that are going to lose because we'll be too busy fighting each other. |

Bedford has the Midas touch it seems so you can choose to be miserable over something you can't control or you can be mature and watch what happens without causing yourself further misery everyday.
Let me ask all of you as you all seem to live on these boards...what would happen if RAH decided to pay all of its pilots the same rate of the Frontier pilots? Would the F9 pilots be happy? Would the juvenile bashing stop? Would the supposed angry hateful "mainliners" on this site who supposedly post endless hateful banter of regional pilots end as well? I'm just curious. I watch this from the outside and am embarrassed at the behavior of "fellow" aviators here. Did this sort of thing happen in the 40s and 50s? I think men were gentlemen then and just understood that sometimes, life ain't fair, something a lot of the youths here need to figure out if you want to have a better life ahead of you. |

1.) RAH is not going to pay their pilots what Fronteir makes, c'mon man..really? 2.) I'm sure the Frontier pilots would be thrilled, but again..it won't happen 3.) No, juvenile bashing is part of these boards, if you haven't figured that out yet..then you should probably stop coming on here 4.) Of course this didn't happen in the 40's and 50's. There were no bottom feeding regionals, there was no outsourcing. Everyone and everything was subsidized by the government, and everyone was happy! (proponents of "less government" in the airline industry to me, are the biggest ignoramus's out there. "de-regulation" was the worst thing to ever happen to the airline industry IMHO) 5.) I wish the Republic, Midwest, and Frontier pilots the best. But I think it's pretty obvious how this is going to turn out, and let's just say, we all know that the Midwest and Frontier guys are going to get the shaft. and "Bedford may have the Midas touch"..but it depends on what your version of gold is my friend. To stock holders and managment, yea..this is awesome..to everyone else, including you..this should be pretty bad. We gotta keep the big picture in sight, and as I said..the chances of Republic flying those airplanes for more / the same as comparable carriers is slim, if not none. Flying 190's for 23 an hour as an FO is deplorable enough, I hope it doesn't turn to flying Airbus 319's for the same rate too. Continuing the race to the bottom, as they say. |
De-reg
Andy,
As much as we would like it, the airlines do not exist to give you and I a job. And "de-regulation" didn't happen to help the airlines. It was for the flying public. And it worked. More choices and less cost. We can argue all day long about the "golden days" and how much better flying was. But passengers are getting what they want; the cheapest ticket from A to B and, regardless of Colgan crash and the pay (which is bad) it is pretty safe. Besides, CRJs would not have existed and you wouldn't even have had a chance to be furloughed out of the right seat. No disrespect intended, really. Jo |
I think the exclamation point in the title of this thread bothers me most. I'm glad to know whoever started this thread was so excited...
