Do us a favor, if you have a crap attitude please dont even update your resume. I love how people talk so much crap all the while trying to get on at Colgan.
Colgan is what you make of it. I am home based, get top 3 schedule and fly with great people. Everything else is being worked on and will get better over time. People need to have that attitude when coming here. I want to smack some of the people we have here when all they do it moan and complain all the while doing nothing to improve conditions.

Great. Just what the industry needs. Another "will fly for food" guy. Look pal. I love my job, but I love money more. The reason the pay in the industry sucks so much is because of attitudes just like yours. You have no idea what the hell you're talking about. If it is your life long dream to work at Colgan of all places then I feel very sorry for you and your wife and kids if you have any.

It does not suck for me. I am from Texas and live and work out of Houston. A month back I decided to bid a reserve line for change of pace, called 1 time for 1 flight, thats for the entire month. Rest of the month spent hanging out and relaxing. I did a reserve line too recently, I actually loved it. It wasnt as good as your scenario because I'm a commuter but it was still nice. except when they activated my reserve (the only time that month) on my birthday and i had to spend 3 days with a jacka$$ captain, but whatever.
Pay Sucks but not as much on the Saab as it does on the Q. Saab pay is a few bucks low compared to other Saab airlines and hopefully our first contract can fix that. The Q pay is the issue and I feel for Q pilots on crap pay up in EWR. dude, saab pay is not a mere few bucks lower than other TP regionals. i dont know off the top of my head but i think my piedmont roommates get like 31 or 32/hr (they are second year). i was making 26 second year, that is at least 5 bucks difference. too lazy to look it up but i think mesaba is similar to piedmont. plus of course you have to take their work rules into account (for example, piedmont reserve day is worth 4 hrs, not 2 like ours. their vacation deal is a lot better too.). every single month when i look at their lines, they have more days off than i do, but more credit hrs. im just saying, it's not a minor difference. yes, in the big scheme of things we are all just regional slaves but for day to day pay and QOL, other TP guys definitely have it better.
QOL is what you make of it. When I was junior I had to commute from the NE and it sucked, now I am home and it is nice. When i upgrade I will be back up in the NE for a while, it is the business.

i dont think QOL is always what you make of it. our work rules absolutely suck, and i dont know about you, but work rules definitely affect my QOL, so therefore my QOL sucks too.

Just don't make things too wonderful there at Colgan. The second you do some 3rd rate lowball outfit will start snatching up all of your flying.
That is the problem with the fee for departure game. As soon as an airline becomes a halfway decent place to work you lose all of your flying to a bottom feeder.

It will take a long time for us to make this place a good airline to work for, but as long as we are hiring, we will keep getting pilots. The more pilots we get, the stronger we become and the more leverage we have (at least in my opinion). As much as I complain about this company (and I work here, I'm allowed to do that), I look forward to what the future brings to its future pilots
