No way, no how, do I believe this. This is pure defeatist attitude. I've changed careers three times in my life, and if I can, with a wife and three small kids, anybody can.

If you have three kids and are interviewing for an entry level FO job, then good luck to you sir. 2nd or 3rd career? No care about pay? It all makes perfect sense, another case of someone making this a hobby.

Oh I care about the pay, I'm just smart enough to have many backup plans that allow me to pursue my passions without sacrificing my families quality of life. As far as flying as an FO, well don't we all have to start someplace. I mean if you have a better plan, please tell me and the rest how to start at the top as an mainline CA. Following your logic, or lack of, everybody entering this career is a hobbyist because we all have to start as an FO at low pay.

Some advice: never let anyone tell you to forget your dreams.
Some more advice: don't listen to anyone in this forum, including myself.

Why don't we have this conversation again after you have actually entered this industry. Your comments are like a virgin preaching about how great sex is. Seriously, what do you know about being an airline pilot? Like everyone else, you won't understand until it's too late.
AMEN! (more words to type because just saying 'amen' isnt enough letters to post, furthermore, i like pizza)

Just don't make things too wonderful there at Colgan. The second you do some 3rd rate lowball outfit will start snatching up all of your flying.
That is the problem with the fee for departure game. As soon as an airline becomes a halfway decent place to work you lose all of your flying to a bottom feeder.

Funny how Xjt pilots feels like Colgan is taking "their" flying. The same argument can be made by Cal mainline pilots who lost a lot of
their flying to XJT. The diference is that the CAL pilots truly lost
what was once theirs, no regional, regardless of Colgan,XJT, etc
owns or is entitled to any flying
Bottom line. By 2013 CAL will probably have 60 Q400 in operations and oil will be higher once the recession ends. What is your airline going to do in order to stay profitable? Continue to kick and scream against the "bottom feeder" Colgan?

You must work for CAL mainline, right? Why else would you call the flying yours? Regionals do now own rights on routes.

I am just curious where all of this ends... are pilots destined to work less and less in the future or will it turn around?
