Why don't you just ask your brother?

Heres the thing. I'm at Delta 2.0 and my brother is a capt. at RAH. He has my recco along with a few of my buddies here and I keep telling him when we start hiring again, and we will, he's in.

But you're right, evidently its not that easy to sell your own tickets and turn a profit...even with planes larger than 50 seat RJs. Just ask UAL/AAL/DAL/SWA/FNT/MEH/etc...

Actually, the closest scheme I can think of that mirrors what RAH appears to be lining up to try is the whole "Independence Air" debacle, and for much the same reasons . . . i.e., United not looking like the "sure thing" it once was.

Independence had lots of money, Airbus', and lots of CRJ's. Fast forward a year and you had a bunch of good people on the streets.

I'm no expert, and I have no dog in this fight. It's just the odds of starting a successful airline are always pretty slim, whether it be pure "start up" from scratch or a bite the hand that feeds you strategy. I'd hate to see the pilots of Frontier get hosed.

Actually, fast forward about 20 months. But I see what you're saying, sucked.

I'm the lasssstt person to start rumors but according to a very reliable source, because of the success with RAH doing Spokane routes and a downsize of the 73 lift for United in the fall, they (United) is looking at expanding more west coast routes with RAH and a possible SFO domicile is in the works. They even said they (RAH) has been recruiting in LA for FA's already. Can any of you RAH guys validate this?

EDIT: Just realized this was posted in the wrong section. Move it if will be.

Congratulations. You're everything Skybus wanted to be and more.

Just more crappy tactics by UAL management who have outsourced my job.

I'm lucky....I didn't go back during final recall two years ago. Had I gone back, UAL would have outsourced my job once again (original classmates now on second furlough).

Enjoy SFO on your regional pay. I had a difficult time there on mainline pay. One of the most expensive cities in the country...should be fun!

I always loved these quotes, should be the first thing taught at a flight school.

Hell yeah I'm excited! Can't wait to watch an RAH pilot try to afford a place to live out there. Even in the midst of a recession, the real estate prices out there are killer!

Is it just me or is that a pretty cool looking paint job!? I think the airlines need to start looking at the happiness of their employees, better pay, better benefits, even something like painting the planes with a cool paint scheme so the pilots actually ENJOY getting on the plane and flying it would produce OUTSTANDING results! Happy employees result in happier passengers and therefore better business!:)

You're right. Southwest pilots get to fly that NBA plane and provide a slam dunk service.

No pun intended :)
