The absolute ONLY way I could see Republic flying 190s for USAir is a huge scope release with a J4J program that would bring furloughed pilots back to work.

This of course is kinda like 99942 Apophis hitting earth in 2029. Slim to none.

Maybe they wouldn't be flown for USair. Perhaps BB wants them for his new fleet program and would put them to work as Midwest birds.

And you can bet there will be a battle royal for any acft asset sales from a still kicking LCC to come with pilots. I kind of like the idea of RAH getting 25 acft and LCC pilots at DOH. USAPA may suck, but they'll have the RAH MEC for lunch on a seniority integration

Back in the day, were'nt Mid-Atlantic E170s owned by Mainline USAir? I seem to recall that RAH didn't take the pilots then either.

Wasn't that a BK J4J deal that the MEC signed off on? It was also a tragedy and a debacle that I doubt any MEC would ever revisit, especially LCC.

On an asset sale, crews don't necessarily go with the planes. LCC can sell the planes to a third party who in turn can transfer them to RAH.

Explain to me why LCC can't sell the 190s to anyone they want? Afterall that's exactly what they are talking about doing. If BB wants to put them on Midwest he could place a bid like everyone else.

well said, but i'd edit slightly - airlines without contract carriers make money = southwest, airtran, spirit......airlines with contract carriers lose money = delta, united, usair....(except airways made money in the last quarter, but it loses more in general). i don't think it's the size of the airplane, but who's flying them that's losing the airline the money.

Apples to oranges. You're looking at different business models. SWA and their hedging lasted just long enough to avoid what most airlines were dealing with. In a good year an airline like CAL will make WAY more than SWA or the likes.
