Quote: My guess is Colgan or Porter. Those SAABs down in IAH are getting old, & the Q400 would be a nice replacement for some of the SAAB & E145 routes.
I doubt Colgan...it is public that 15 more are coming for CAL with 15 options. Colgan has 15 confirmed planes as well.

I cant imagine that they would just order 5 random planes and not make that public as well amongst the other 45 airframes.

do you want to deal with all the lawsuits that come with it. imagine if you hit CAT with all those naked bodies flying around.
Guaranteed that one of the FA's would sue claiming "I was groped by a belted down pax, while flying through the air", DOh

I agree with you but I will throw this out there...

United walked away from signing a deal with Colgan in Feb for Q's out of Denver or Los Angeles. Why? 3407. As soon as 3407 happened they walked because they did not want the bad press at the time. It would not be crazy to think a order went in without an announcement because United still wants the 3407 buzz to quiet down a bit more.

Who knows

SkyWest?
OK, no credible source, but there's a rumor flying around ASA and SkyWest that SkyWest is getting Q400s. Could these go to replace Mesa's Dash-8's in Denver? We will know by October when United has to inform Mesa if those Dash-8's are going to be pulled. FWIW.

Its not very cost-effective to only have 5 of an airframe...
