I am a SWA FO who proudly wears my American Flag tie everytime I go to work. When I greet the passengers on the jetbridge prior to each flight, I get at least 10-15 positive comments regarding my tie before each flight. I especially get comments when I go through El Paso (Ft. Bliss), San Diego and Norfolk (Navy). Elderly and veterans especially seem to like seeing us wear it. I once had an Air Force 2 star thank me for wearing it as he was boarding the flight. Coincidently...I have never received a negative comment in the 5+ years that I have worn it.

I also tend to wear my Texas Flag tie when I do a day or two of the "Texas Two Step". Texans (I am one of them) love to see state pride in any form. Get a huge amount of comments on that tie as well. Heck...SWA even painted its first specialty aircraft in the Lone Star colors!

I use to wear a flag tie back at Mesa as well. All the benefits listed above, plus it really ****ed off my Chief Pilot....Bonus Points!

I wear one for being an ALPA info rep. They gave it to me. Never really thought of it much, I have recieved a lot positive comments on it. Even in Canada! I suppose if I came to work wearing an American Flag thong, and only that. That would offensive and I might need to have chat with the Cp and mabe some other nice people too. I'm of the male species too so it would really get some attention..

Am I the only one that finds this disrespectful?
I guess it is almost as disrespectful as all those soldiers wearing flags on their right shoulders..... especially those wearing wearing the "subdued" version.

Why complain about the flag? It's on the side of every a/c.

I guess saying "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance would bother him too?
Don't like the tie? Don't look at it........... And then I noticed how much your AVATAR looks like one of the biggest tyrants the world has ever known..........what a coincidence........

Like everyone else, I also receive many positive comments about my American flag tie. It seems to happen a few times each trip; the passengers like it a lot. I wear it proudly and will continue to do so.

When I was waiting for the shuttle bus one evening I even got a compliment from a Jazz crew. Thanked them for the compliment and told them they can probably get there American flag tie if they talk to there union representatives.. Caught my mistake and quickly corrected myself but we all had a good laugh from it.

I don't think he is complaining about the flag being used as a tie as much as he's complaining about the pilot group (GoJet) wearing it. Just trying to start some flame against them.

Thank you to all that show your patriotism. I'm one of those guys who proudly wears the flag on his right shoulder every day.

They look tacky. And the passengers making positive comments are probably the same "patriotic Americans" who drive a gas guzzler expedition with an Osama hunting license bumper sticker and a faded worn our American flag suctioned cupped onto the side window.
