Default Colgan help

Greetings.

I would really like to work for Colgan and I would appreciate any tips in reference to the application and hiring process.
I have roughly 800 TT and 200 ME.

Also, if anyone could help me out with a "walk in", that would be great.

Thanks.

Out of curiousity I took a look at their pay information. Most junior captain was hired of Feb 2006. . . killer. That alone I'd want to work for them. lol

Good luck!

Feb 2006 is a street captain. We had at least 4 people leave commutair to become street captains there.

I saw the same thing but have to agree. I've read on other posts that the upgrade is a minimum of 11 months. According to what I have read from other Colgan crews.

800TT with 200ME should get you an interview. Fill out the online app and give it about a week. Then call Colgan in Manassas and ask to speak with Cathy Angelo or Chuck Colgan. Expect to be phone interviewed. In addition, Colgan has been holding open house's recently. I'll post here when the next one is available.

Yes, the Feb 2006 hire was a couple of street captains for the Beech. We've had to hire a few because the Beech upgrade time has been running around a year and we have a large group of Beech FO's who are next to upgrade that don't meet the insurance mins. Upgrade on the Saab is running about 15 - 18 months, if you have the times. If you come into the company with less than a 1000 hours TT, expect to sit right seat a few months longer than a guy a little junior to you who has more time. Insurance mins for captain upgrade are running around 2200TT with at least 800 in type. We are currently upgrading FO's on the Saab who were hired in the Jan 2005 to March 2005 time frame.

You should be able to get the interview with the app and phone call. For the interview:

Look sharp.

Have the online app complete and updated to your most recent numbers/info.

Have a good 1 - 2 page resume.

Have your logbooks prepared and updated. Bring them all.

Study the ATP Gliem for the 50 question test.

Be prepared for a 2-on-1 interview. Mostly get-to-know-you, tell-me-about-the-time-that, some technical questions.

BE YOURSELF! Be professional, not canned. Don't come across as arrogant. Be the type of guy you would like to share a flightdeck or crewroom with.

Be prepared for a 15 min sim check. Make sure your instrument skills and scan are up to your certificate (commercial or ATP). Get some sim time before hand. Note - you'll have to have at least 50 hours of flight time in the past six months to be hirable, hopefully most of it multi time.

Be ready to be hired immediately and to go to class quickly. You may not be able to give two weeks notice to your current employer.

Admit to any "problems" in your history. Only a few are disqualifying. Don't hide anything, however. DON'T LIE. They will find out. No surprises!

Remember...most of the guys in the room interviewing with you will disqualify themselves somehow. And the rest will probably get hired.

Kilo,

Just curious, if you had to turn down the other regional that offered you a class because of contractual issues with your current employer why are you applying to Colgan so soon?
