It would be really nice to see XJT get a new contract. They have alot of pilots on the street. Who knows if that is why the stock price is up.

The company likes the RFL's and they have said that they want to keep them so 20 airframes could be a cause for recalls. Also everyone that is on the senority list has the option to bid a 40 or 60 hour line so the guys that are senior and on reserve had the option to bif for these and chose not to bid and as for the union member doing a RFL that is their choice. They are not doing anything wrong by doing this.

AWAC, Asa and Xjt all think they got the UAL flying.
Only one airline can get it yet everyone thinks it's a "done deal."

Mesa will probably end up just keeping it or it will go to PNCL.

(Yes this is a joke)

They probably did, part of that rfp was for q-400s and UAL offered 10 planes to skywest for 2 years and they turned it down.

I can assure you AWAC is not getting this flying. If anything the UAL flying will go to airlines who already have 50 seaters sitting around. United has been very public that Pro-rating is what they are interested in. SKYW is already doing some routes for UAL with this in place.

XJT could do this??

AWAC has a much better chance of folding than getting flying.

Use your head for a minute. They like the RFLs because it gives them flexibility with slower months (like OCT for example). Right now every month is a slower month with the lower block hours compared to 2007 levels. Even with 10 planes flying 12-13 hrs a day for UAL in the summer we still had guys on RFLs, meaning we were still overstaffed. They would not allow 40-60 hr lines during peak travel season AND recall at the same time, that would be an added cost to a company that is still losing money every quarter. It does not make business sense to allow some to be a part time employee and have to recall, I wish you guys the best and hope you get back here soon but 20 airplanes will not bring back recalls. 30-40 new airplanes would require recalls, I don't know where you get your information. I get my information straight from GS who told myself and a bunch of others in recurrent this exact thing I'm telling you. Pray for 40-50 new airframes and you will most likely need to be recalled...........otherwise it will be a long time (until captains start leaving again, and at least 200+ will need to leave) before we start recalling.

LOL! If I had a buck for every person who has used that same line, I'd be rich.

A round of beers says it goes to SKW or ASA... meanwhile, we'll continue to be "overstaffed" by having more than half our days in Nov under coverage.

I doubt it, XJT was forced to sign a CPA at a loss by CAL and Skywest. They pretty much have to overbid to break even and pro-rate is out of the question. Skywest pretty much took their ability to compete away.

Slaphappy 10-02-2009 02:48 PM

It makes sense that they are going to ASA because ASA is about to lose some delta flying. If this was new flying with new airplanes it would 100% go to Skywest but managment would rather get it on INC. than let someone else have it, so ASA is the next best thing.

newarkblows 10-02-2009 04:07 PM

SKywest would be operating 450 plus or minus airplanes if they won the contract. That is a lot of airplanes to spread your costs over and they offer a good product.
