There was a provision in the deal that UAL had a rolling extension period, but it never got used. Obviously. |

They probably did, part of that rfp was for q-400s and UAL offered 10 planes to skywest for 2 years and they turned it down.

You'd be pretty dumb to take such a short contract on a popular new airframe...hell it would take half that time first just to train up crews! Not to mention other costs. Guess even JO knows this. Look at the debacle with RAH/CO.
