I think they all went to FedEx and I don't think we are bidding on the prop flying since we have no way to do it unless we magically end up with some new ones (not happening). I think we are bidding for -200 flying out of IAD for a total of 20 airframes. I think this is supposed to replace Mesa if UA gives them the boot but I'm not sure what is going on.

I'm sure just like you, I keep hearing all sorts of different things. 1) The UAL RFP for for an ENTIRE package. In other words, only 1 carrier will get it. 2) The RFP could awarded to multiple carriers, and 3). MESA may keep the DEN stuff and end up doing it at a loss.

True. And I can't remember if it's been covered in the thread already. But who's to say that this simply isn't UAL doing business as usual with their express carriers? Put out an RFP to put the fear of god into JO, BB (especially BB), HK, JA, and whoever else to squeeze more the cost, or get them to "pay to play" to hold on to what they've got.

I still really wish UA wasn't parking 737s, most of this flying should be going to those at mainline. Tilton disagrees though
I'm not going to lose much if any sleep though if we beat Mesa out for a contract.

And again, I wish the flying was going BACK to UAL. It would be nice if my company got the prop flying out of DEN for multiple reasons. Don't see it happening though.

Brad Holt is the President and COO of ASA. I'm not sure if ASA cares if we post their internal communications but I'm going to assume no and not share his last weekly address. I will say that it was pretty positive and you can interpret it to say that we have good news (in regards to new business) coming our way. That message combined with some of the rumors floating around from our chief pilots provides enough circumstantial evidence to say that we have a good shot or have already won UA flying. It wasn't the typical FA rumor that prompted this thread.
Yeah we can play the blame game but in reality we all have blood on our hands. As I said in another thread I would have flight instructed my way to a right seat at a major if I could have but I can't. The regionals for most of us are a necessary evil, that said we don't have to sell out to the cheapest one we can find. I did my research when I was applying to places and didn't apply to certain regionals because of how bad they are even though I could potentially upgrade quicker at some of those places. I'll admit my decision was like picking the lesser of two evils and some see it as hair splitting when you talk about a "good regional," but since it is pretty much a required step for most of us to a major I figured I should choose the one that didn't do the most damage to the profession. Not caring and trying to rationalize working at a place like GoJet is exactly what management wants us to do. They want us to see it as a stepping stone only and do it for less, well the less we do it for the bigger the gap gets between that stone and the job we want. It'll come to a point when we won't be able to make the jump.
Flying going back to UAL would be great but that's up to them to tighten scope and up to us to get the best contracts possible so we look less enticing to their management.
Best of luck with the prop flying, who do you work for?
Agreed, pathetic to watch. But like I said previously in response to another poster, we could go round and round on the scope issue, it's gone. Sadly, UAL (or any other legacy) doing business isn't coincident with what's good for pilot's careers. Never has been, never will be.
Again, agree. I have buddies at MESA and don't want to see them lose their jobs. I've also worked at a UAX carrier where we lost our jobs due to multiple carriers willing to do it cheaper, combined with the crappy way that UAL management does business.
And again, I wish the flying was going BACK to UAL. It would be nice if my company got the prop flying out of DEN for multiple reasons. Don't see it happening though.

Interesting. July/August the "rumor" was we (XJT) had a good shot at getting it. You know, "we've done such a good job for them" with out temporary crap and all. But lately, when a certain individual comes into recurrent classes the mood seems to have changed. For some reason, there's a "25%" chance now that we're going to get some (if any) of it. At least, I've heard that now from more than one person who's talked to Ferris Bueler's sisters cousins uncle's brother at the Basking Robbins last night. Not that I put much stock in it, just sayin'.
Don't disagree with any of that.
XJT currently. But in a little under 5 years at my former employer, 4 years of it UAL provided the bread and butter. And as "good" as it may seem for whatever carrier to get the flying, beware of the way that UAL does business. Because when the RFP is up in however many years again, UAL will put it up again and screw the carriers into a cheaper cost.

Maybe we are both being fed lies who knows?
In any case if we don't win I hope you guys do, XJet has certainly been beat down pretty hard by CAL and you guys could use a break.

Like you said, gotta love the rumors. I guess we'll see in a month or so.
Thanks. It would be nice to see some of our furloughed guys back. I interviewed at ASA the same time I did as XJT. Some of my friends went there. It hasn't really been an easy go for ASA either.

For the guys asking about the ATR's, some (number unsure) of them are on the ramp at Macon... In the on-deck circle, perhaps? I'd sure like to think so - flying beats wrenching any day of the week.
