With the amount of folks we have displaced? I hope not! If so, I better be getting my seat back at DFW!!

Welcome back to the first 20, and for the rest- hang in there. Thank you to those pilots who have refrained from picking up extra flying. Lets keep it up until they are all back.

It'd be interesting to see if they just run a vacancy/displacement bid every couple of weeks like they seemed to do over the past year or so. I would bet that there's no way picking the base is going to be an option.

Just curious what do you guys have in the contract for recall rights? Can you waive the recall right and remain on the list? If so how many times before it forces your resignation of your number? What percentage do you guys think will take it?

We get one chance to pass on recalls. If we pass on the second round, we're out. I think the majority of guys will go back, especially with the job market the way it is now. I can think of 2 or 3 from my class who found better things and won't be headed back.

I've been hearing about a year long seat lock too so we may well have new hires taking the seats we want if the hiring rumors are true...

firdt, you must still have acces to ALPA web site, you can read your contract, or just read the copy you have. Recalls go where the company has openings. Anywhere in the system. You always have a 12 month lock when going through long term training. Exception is if you were displaced from one aircraft into another aircraft, without being furloughed you wont have a lock. Lets not forget that there is also a base lock of 12 mos.
The easy days of new hires having there way and getting pref training before coming here paid by AE and pref base are no longer here. Training has also become tougher, ask the ones who have busted PC's the last 3 months, that does not include the probationary rides that did not go well.

It's said that the standard of training varies with the market...

My question is with a lot of the furloughs returning, of those that were low time and haven't flown in the past 6-7 months, how are they going to manage getting through training. It seems like it's going to be a rough road.

so this would mean that if i went back and was given say SJU ATR unless someone displaced me out i would be on SJU ATR for 12 mo. before i could even try to bid off that equipment?

RJ Pilot 10-24-2009 06:23 PM

The majority will be ATR SJU, some MIA and few Jets.

No, the seat lock is for jet F/O. The only way you can get a jet is if you can hold a seat. If they stick you on the ATR, during the next vac/dis bid, you can bid out. Likewise with jet F/O's. An EMB F/O cannot go to the CRJ if it's only a vacancy. But, he/she can be displaced to the CRJ.

Training isn't that bad. Too me it hasn't changed. Just get into your books as quickly as you can. You already know what needs to be learned, just do it. Memory items and LIMITATIONS!!!! Get those limitations down packed!

For everyone else....just apply yourself
