I'm anxiously awaiting the announcement about this potential flying. At the same time, I feel bad for the other people who are losing flying. Sucks knowing your friends are on the chopping block while you're getting hired to do the same thing they are. Quite an industry.

They do not care whether you are furloughed or not. They furloughed the pilots in the first place to save money. Now, they are asking you back so they can make money. There is NO desire to get pilots back for the sake of getting pilots back. Their entire business model is predicated on fast turnover - in and out, in and out - to keep the average longevity low. When a gap in work comes up, the company will crunch the numbers and determine the most cost effective way to manage the pilots. They'd put you out of a job for 6 months rather than just keep extra reserves or something for a small gap of time, to save wages expense. Your bills do not matter. Only their's do.



Again, this comes down to money. TSA is most likely one of the cheapest bidders out there. In an industry losing money like there is no tomorrow, they can do the job cheaper because of all the reasons we already know about.

Actually, these two statements compliment each other nicely. There is NO loyalty to anyone/anything besides money. From the viewpoint of management, the entire pilot group is just a nameless, faceless mass, to be altered and manipulated however needed to achieve the necessary structure.

I am not saying that there is evil and malice thought on the part of management. They are all more likely good and decent people. But their motives are financial and nothing else. Its business, not personal.

One of the major side effects to the regional situation, as we all know, is this "musical chair" BS that is played. From the pilot's viewpoint, its all luck on who gets awarded and who loses out on flying.
