If you are unable to fly and uphold the FAA requirements for your medical issuance, call in sick. If given grief call a rep for your meeting. We have NOT had anyone have any discipline over the sick calls beyond a meeting to figure out what's wrong if you suddenly are sick multiple times in a short period. Anything the company threatens to do is only a threat. It's an easy grievance with FAA support for the first pilot who is pressured to fly sick or does not because the pilot is sick and the company disciplines.

Flapsfail- your union is working very hard to get this deal done. If you think this is supposed to be an overnight success story I remind you who you work for. I'm unsure where you are based but in MEM you are given updates at least once a week- more often if there is news. I just sent one off early this morning on my layover. Mark Feb 19 as a big day- we get to finally get in front of the NMB. If you look at management and union labor tactics you will find that mgmt is right on track with dividing the pilot group to try and accomplish their goals. The company feels you are already overpaid on 1999 rates, the pilots voted in majority that the TA did not meet the needs and expectations for a contract. Your union is working every day (including some late nights and weekends) to get a deal together. There is NO desire to make this take a day longer than needed.

Higney,
I do agree with you on that and I touched on that with my previous post. You and PH have been much better about getting info out.

PH is not on the MEC anymore. I am actually in his old position. In MEM it's TC, NL, and myself. The three of us are really trying to keep MEM informed and listen to what the pilots in MEM have to say.

well we had one fired a few years ago, but I think he was a bad apple anyways. Company even got the Feds involved. He called in sick X number of times in a year and the company thought it was fishy even with a dr note. Company went to the Feds on it. When you apply to renew your medical it has that spot for "doctor visits within last 3 years."
Well he left that blank so the feds got him for lying on a medical application and he got canned. Barney semantics again.
