I hope this puts RAH in a position to directly compete with your company (whoever it may be) and take as much business as possible away from your company. Why? Because that's the way it goes. You can't live in a free-market economy and complain that the other guy is too competitive. And while everyone sits around and complains about how "unfair" it is that RAH does what it does, I'm going to sit around and hope they continue to be good at it. For those of you that wistfully dream of the days when things were better; I suggest you wake up quickly cuz you're going to dream your way into unemployment.

No, I don't care about your pension, your lost wages, your hardships. Just as I would not expect you to care about mine. I don't come on here and whine, cry, and sulk when a company gets awarded flying over mine, when a company does better financially then mine, or when something good happens to another company and not mine. Yet, you all do this to RAH. What are you expecting the company to do? Hand you guys a few contracts and say "Hey, we're sorry...you guys go ahead and take this one. We're making enough money as it is and wouldn't want to hurt your feelings or make you think it's unfair!" Am I supposed to apologize because my company (for the time being - and it's sketchy) is trying to be somewhat successful? Cuz I'm not.

I don't work here with the wool pulled over my eyes thinking I'm going to make $150K in the right seat. I know almost exactly what I'm getting. A confrontational and usually back-handed management team that would just as soon hit me with their car as sign my paycheck. But so long as they're a SUCCESSFUL confrontational and back-handed management team, I will hang. Call me a scab, selfish, or any other derogatory word you want. But after you do it, don't ask for my help in raising the bar at your company. Raise your own bar and stop blaming me for your shortfalls. I don't blame you for mine.
Wow.. You sir just don't get it.

Mod Note:

Guys, lets keep the discussion on topic and civil. Bashing one another adds nothing productive to the conversation.

Reading this thread makes me want to vomit.

We are working on a new contract.

We will let you know when we have improved it.

Until then get a life.

Most of you "Mainline pilots" act more immature than a 23 year-old anyway.

What doesn't he get? Your point of view? Just because it's your point of view that doesn't mean it's the Platonic Ideal.

Well of course - duhhhh... Everyone else here knows everything that is right, and that RAH is wrong. Nobody who flies at mainline made pennies at a regional flying jets and can bash as much as they want about wages and experience. And most of all, the regional pilots from other carriers can bash becuase they make 4 or 5 bucks an hour more at max scale after 6 to 8 years, flying former mainline routes in cr7 and cr9 aircraft that can seat as many people as RAH aircraft (and even currently putting MORE mainline pilots on the street - AA/AE and additional CR7 aircraft). But whatever... They're awesome and the best people ever. Don't argue. They would've struck at the first opportunity BB did something without a second thought because they are so rightous. Honestly, being an airline pilot anymore is nothing to be proud of when being associated with the likes of some on APC.

Let the feathers ruffle. I'm out.

Being a regional pilot is nothing to be proud of. It's actually embarrassing. It's embarrassing to tell your friends that you are an airline pilot, but only make $30-40 thousand per year. It's embarrassing to admit that you have $100,000 in debt in order to have your current job. What's really embarrassing is that anyone with a little common sense would not put themselves into this situation just so they can tell their friends that they are airline pilots. Nobody with any self respect and dignity is jealous of the Republic pilots or any other regional-wage pilots. It used to take an extremely determined person to become an airline pilot. The tests are published, you can retake check-rides as many times as it takes to get your licenses, and loans were easy to come by a few years ago. Now the piloting profession is compromised of the rejects of society. There are thousands of career changers in this industry. Who the hell changes careers to a $30,000/year job? The answer is someone who is not very bright. There's a reason why a few years ago, Republic couldn't give its job away. It's because it's a terrible job to have. When the economy was booming, pilots were leaving Republic at a rate of 30/month. That's 360 pilots per year quitting. The entire airline was being replaced every 4 years. That's why the Republic pilots didn't care about first officer rates last contract. They decided that those rates didn't matter since pilots are only on that scale for a year or two. I attribute this to pilots not being very bright. We as a whole are very short-sighted.

This coming from the same person who trashed a pilot group because they once took a paycut. Im pretty sure you're the most ignorant person on this board. Thats saying a lot.

So THAT is why you got hired by Chautauqua...

The economy was booming and 30/mo were leaving when Chautauqua pilots ratified their contract in the third quarter of 2003?
