cjc got burned on the last class of 121 guys because the company wasn't smart enough to have them give up their recall rights. good for the recalled pilots, bad for cjc.

I have a lot of respect for those who earn their way and treat "younger" pilots with dignity and actually help. I don't have any respect for the 300/400 hour wonders that got lucky during a serious hiring boom and never had to do what we have to do to scratch for turbine time BUT STILL SMUGLY SNIPE AT THOSE OF US WHO HAVE WORKED AT FLIGHT SCHOOLS FOR YEARS TO MEET ATP MINS. Between flight instruction and management, I have worked at flight schools since 2001. I want out! I want to fly an airplane and not a desk!!

Thanks for the info. What bases are they offering?

And all you guys that are so smug because you got hired with a "good" regional when you had 400 hours and 25 multi can have a little respect for those of us who didn't get so "lucky". A lot of you guys cracking jokes never had to work at a flight school at all. People like me that are going to the interviews have instructed for several years. After 1100 hours in a Cessna 172 and over 500 hours in light twins, there isn't anything else that can help my career but turbine time. People like me have paid our dues and still have YEARS to wait for ExpressJet, Skywest, ASA, etc. Might as well get some turbine time while I wait. More recip time won't help much once you meet the hours for ATP.

Ya... might as well get some turbine time and put more downward pressure on wages on QOL at the airlines. Stick with your CFI job and be patient. I instructed for five years before I got on at a regional. I also worked jobs outside of flying while I instructed to pay the bills. Colgan is a scumbag operation. There's a reason they're calling CFI's and not one of the many furloughed and experienced 121 guys out there right now.

The worst thing you can do is argue with people on this board. In my experience there is little useful info. on the regional forums; just a lot of people that create a false sense of reality. The real world is out there, leave the weirdos like me with our Internet vices alone in here.

You speak the truth, sir! Sometimes I look back and wonder why I ever wanted to get into this industry...

If your talking about the skipper (scott) I knew him too...

To the OP: PM me if you can and I'll try and help you out off the boards as best I can. In the meantime, check willflyforfood or Google Colgan Air interview gouge. There is some information out there to be found.

TO answer the original poster there should be two current gouges on www.willflyforfood.com One of them a friend of mine put up so I know its current because he got the job. As for all the other opinions that you'll find on here, take them with a grain of salt best wishes to your friend and I hope he gets the job. Its good to hear some good news for once!

heres just a thought:

Maybe the problem isn't the minimums being too low or high but the level of maturity and common sense required to differentiate between a job worth your while and spinning your wheels. Bartenders, store managers, cubicle slaves, baristas at starbucks will out earn a Colgan pilot for about three years. Eventually the Colgan pilot will make more but there are a lot of different ways to pay the bills that will earn you a lot more. Who do you want flying your airplane the person too stupid to realize that they are worth more or the guy who cant? Just saying
