Let me ask this question as I have heard several different answers to this. Pilot A is hired at Colgan with 1200tt and of course no ATP and his/her class is late AUG and this bill is signed this weekend... since pilot A is not employed by an airline yet does Colgan toss them?

The FAA has 3 (I think) years to implement that rule about the 1500 hours of total time.

More importantly, they have 1 year to implement the new FTDT rules.

See now I thought that the 3 year rule was just for current pilots employed by a part 121 carrier, all new hires as of this week would be subject to 1500tt and an ATP????
I dont know why I care, but im just trying to figure this crap out!

(B) ALL FLIGHT CREWMEMBERS- Rules issued under paragraph (1) shall ensure that, after the date that is 3 years after the date of enactment of this Act, all flight crewmembers--

(i) have obtained an airline transport pilot certificate
under part 61 of title 14, Code of Federal Regulations; and

(ii) have appropriate multi-engine aircraft flight experience, as determined by the Administrator.

Folks, take the time to read the bill

For those that have gone through training. how long does a class spend in training and do you guys get jumpseat privileges on day one of class?

If I go I would like to fly back on the weekends.

If I were you, even if you were permitted to go home on the weekends, I wouldn't. Too many distractions at home to keep one away from one's studies.

Training lasts roughly 7 weeks from day one until sim checkride. And you are not put into CASS until you pass your checkride, so plan on spending your weekends in downtown Memphis.

Thanks Dad...

I needed time away from training to let my mind grapes rest. Sometimes sitting in a hotel room stressing over flash cards is not the best method. Everyone should know by now what works best for them, junior high is over.

You are welcome, son.

Most of the folks I knew who needed to go home on the weekends were married and had to deal with the Mrs. whining about missing the Mr. or little Johnny was having trouble and need his father, and those folks were WELL beyond jr. high.

It was free advice worth every penny you pay for it. I agree a few hours off clears the head, but even now, in my forties, a trip home to see my parents and siblings is FAR from a vacation.

I just wanted to give the guy some food for thought. But clearly, Captain, you are far wiser than I.

You guys are such kidders..... you know darn well that going home to your "supposed" family is not allowed.... you need all the time you have to get to know your new Colgan family members.... after all you really need to know how to do your paperwork fast, how to stay in tip top operating condition to be a profitable entity for the company, and learn that CFM/FOM backwards and forwards.... yeah... and start growing your lip hairs for Mustache March.
