Republic (Midwest) airplane evac MCI
Republic KCI evacuation
My favorite quote from the story I thought it was kind of fun,” he said. “It is something different. It’s not something that everyone gets to do. |
This thread should be fun...

Good job to the crew. Still made by Embraer....are there many reports of the cabin fog / smells like this for other EMB190 operators? Also, if the plane you're flying has escape slides....it's not an RJ anymore. 5 year jetBlue 190 pay = $131 /hr, "midwest," $77 /hr.
|
"Welcome to Kansas City!"
|
Of course the excitement happens the one day I'm not flying out of MCI. Lame. Good job to the crew though.
|
OK, I don't know what 'SkillsUSA' is but it sounds funny.
|
the safety slide chutes deployed and the 104 passengers escaped. |
What's this thread doing in the regional section? :D;)
Mustache Ride, you do realize that Jet Blue just signed their new rates for the 190? Nahh of course you did not know. Aviatormjc, they do have 99 seats. It's the media. what do you expect. Accuracy? |

So let’s compare JetBlue’s old E190 pay rates from 2001. Year 10, JetBlue FO $64.36 CA $96.47, Republic FO $37.00 CA $90.00. Stop making excuses! Our pay is pathetic on the 190, and mediocre on the rest of the airframes. |

I'm amazed ... 13 posts on this thread and already it's gone so far off the original topic I actually had to look back at the top to remember what it was about ... welcome to APC...

Great job to the crew!!! On the topic, personally know the CA and he couldn't have handled the situation any better. Sounds like it was a burnt up pack that created the smoke. |

It's not just the pay that is pathetic... more pathetic than the pay are the work rules. |

Slightly worse than some, a little better than others. Still, I'd rather be here than at any of the cl65 operators just so I don't have to endure flying that thing during the summer months.

I would much rather fly my CL65 and be compensated well and have good work rules than ever walk through the door at RAH. You guys really need to start understanding that flying a big shiney jet does not pay your bills or better position yourself for your career. One last thing I've noticed, there are a TON of guys at RAH that really need to learn radio manners.....oh and quit the tough guy deep voices....you just sound lame.
As for manners, I agree. But it's not just us it's everyone. One thing we agree on is all the dorks who try to lower their voice and sound Yeager-esque are indeed dorks. And sadly I do hear quite a few of them with our call signs. |

Thank you for pointing that out. We had no idea. I can't believe for the longest everyone here thought they were working for a company that SWA, FEDEX and UPS were jealous of. I commend you for having the ability to explain the O' so obvious, obvious. Clairvoyant some might say.
Edit: thevagabond gets it. |

Yawn. . . Move on Curly. As far as the "replacements" go this place is just as fine as any of the others. In your next life why don't you and your peers leave behind a better environment than you joined. I realize that's probably asking too much of the new Americans but I'm a dreamer. |

Wow, another immature pilot "attempting" to slam us. Grow up son. You bringing up radio calls? Are you kidding me? I'm in and out of CLT, PHL, DCA and constantly hear nothing but immaturity from PSA specifically. I don't know where you work, nor do I care, but I'm glad you're happy where you are. You're compensated well? Now that's funny. Get over yourself son. |

80, you're still around? Wow, you seem to be bringing a lot to these forums with posts like that. The immaturity level here astounds me..not really though. |
While immaturity on the boards is rampant the fact is ALL regional pilots are grossly underpaid. RAH is on the bottom end of the spectrum especially for the FO. I find it irritating when pilots at a regional even joke about being discussed on the major level and even more irritated by regional pilots being critical of other regional pilots. The MAG pilot group is a good example. Everyone wanted to talk down to MAG pilots because of their pay and work rules without considering the ongoing multiple battles they fought with JO for scope and one seniority list. The same battle was fought at RAH during the last negotiation. That said if you are a pilot at a regional don't pretend to be better than anyone else or think for one minute you are even close to being on the same playing field as a major airline. Regional pilots are working at less than B scale pay rates flying someone else's routes.

we were in the van the other day with one of the Lynx new hires over there and he said they were making him pay for hotels on ioe. Now he was in a crew base for RAH...so if he was based there he would have to pay for his own hotel or crashpad etc. IOE out of base now that would be a different story if a company didnt provide a hotel. I also highly doubt if he were out of base on a trip that they would say ohh you have to buy your own hotel room while the others go to the normal overnight hotel, i mean that would just be insane. Dont know what he meant by saying the company was making him pay for his hotels on ioe but he did say they were "working" on it to fix it??

re
RAH does suck...I'll tell you why too. Mainly the "I'm the man" attitude that these guys carry around. "I fly the RJ heavy so I'm a bad *** pilot and better then you" It seeths out of there skin at times. Very annoying to me and at least offensive to the guy sitting to my left who used to flew those routes for 3 times the money. I'm just saying most guys over there need to excersize some more tact.

Very true. I have seen and can imagine some other rare instances where it may be difficult to get a hotel room but they would never make the person pay for it unless it's in base. On a side note what a class act. Just gets preferentially hired and complains publicly in front of other crews. Sir, why don't you just take your things and hit the road? Generation me, makes me heartsick for America. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending our pay scales. But c'mon, we just brought all these folks on board when we had no obligation to do so and a few choose to do nothing but whine and complain.
