I'm not quite following you, but I was simply giving the potential new hires a heads up that they will be at the bottom of a 4000+ pilot list. We were all new once, and they may think (out of ignorance not malice) that they will be part of the integration involving the folks on property prior to August 4th, and they won't. This has already been agreed to by both MEC's and will be signed this month by Brad Holt and company as part of the transitional agreement. Your post just seems to want to discourage people from applying not encourage them. Here's an example of what I mean: on another forum of this website there is a post that begins with, "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but...". Well, obviously, the poster actually did not mind being the bearer of bad news or he/she would have kept their keyboard idle. Sincerely, apologies for my sarcasm. |

I guess my point is that you are on the bottom of a seniority list. That's it. There are a lot of high time pilots furloughed, about to be furloughed, or laid off that may want to take ASA up on an interview. They may actually attract a higher quality applicant than the 800&2 of the past -- or even higher quality than the guy sitting to the left of them.

Two good companies coming together. I imagine their future will be bright.

Why didn't the company call the guy's that were in the pool earlier in 2008?

I really liked XJT but it had a very poor outlook for the future, just recently started treating its employees like they were garbage, and management completely stopped communicating with the average joe flying the line. I am looking forward to a management that actually cares again and can be competitive. |
Pool was prob. purged at some point, ( stupid move, I know ) and now the company is trying to solve our appropriate staffing level issue in the near future...

I put my stuff in and I live in Atlanta. I don't have anyone to walk it in and I'm kinda low time so I'm not going to hold my breath. Good luck to everyone.

Ok guys, here is the story. ASA tried to fill a class with XJet furloughees, but couldn't, for whatever reason. They already had a class set up for October 11th, so they went into warp speed hire mode. I interviewed on Friday morning with 3 other people. First interviews in about 18 months. We all did the Sim ride yesterday. The guys interviewing are not looking at Airline Apps unless your stuff has already been walked in by someone else (mine was). They are specifically looking for local (Atlanta plus or minus 2 hours or so) people so that everything can be expedited in time for the October 11th class date.
For what it's worth, 4 interviewed on Friday, 3 interviewed on Saturday, the lowest total time was just over 2000 hours with over 400 hours multi engine. About half had prior turbine and 2 were prior 121. The youngest was about 25 and the oldest was 55 with the other 5 pretty neatly dispursed throughout those 2 ages. All 7 had instructed at some point, two had been Chief Pilots somewhere and one had been an Assistant Chief Pilot. One was former ASA who had gone to Continental and didn't like it, so decided to come back (That was weird to me too, but different strokes for different folks). Short story is that they only need 15 right now and have 15 interviewees already set up through Wednesday. Although there are no other classes currently set up right now, they are understaffed and anticipate additional hiring soon, as long as the moon and the stars and the planets line up properly and everyone holds their ear just right while balancing on one foot with a half full wine glass balanced on their head (just kidding about that part). If you want in, your best shot right now is someone inside walking your resume in and being in Atlanta. If you can't get your resume walked in by Monday or Tuesday, you are probably looking at the next round. Good Luck! |
