One was former ASA who had gone to Continental and didn't like it, so decided to come back (That was weird to me too, but different strokes for different folks). Didn't like it, eh? Probably more like fired, furloughed, etc. |

I'm sorry to burst your bubble - but I think you need to reevaluate your reason for coming to ASA. It is highly doubtful that you will get any overnight more than once a week. Once or twice a month, yes. Also as a new hire you will have almost zero say in your schedule. There are junior FOs that have been at the whim of scheduling for almost three years. Not trying to come off as a d**k - just want you to have the facts. |

It will be a pretty secure place to work and really always has been. Those furloughs that happened recently were the only ones in the history of the company. And everyone here could probably agree that they never should have happened. Management saw everyone else furloughing and decided they would do it too. Right now it has caused more hurt than good back when times were tight. So to make a long story short, anyone that becomes newly hired and is at the bottom of the list (1%) after the merger needs to expect very little movement if any. Reserve at a regional is like night and day to reserve at a major. Plus you get paid a mostly livable wage at a major compared to years 1-4 at a regional. I can't imagine being stuck on reserve for 5-7 years at a regional but for anyone newly hired I hope we can negotiate something in favor of them. If you can make it past that, maybe upgrading might happen before 12th year pay. I'm sure after people are stuck on reserve for that long, they would start dropping like flies and the company probably couldn't fill the positions fast enough so something would have to give. PM if you need any help. |
