No they do not. I either want SkyWest or ExpressJet, those are my first choices (if i am lucky enough to get accepted by any). Anyways, i will start looking towards end of the semster, because most places require multi.

I would highly recommend doing an internship. However, I think that interning at a regional would be a complete waste of time.....I would only apply for a "major" airline internship.

Yup. That's a silver bullet you do not want to waste on a regional...

Good to know. Someone years ago that did the internship told me they sent him to flight safety in florida to get typed in it. He coulda been full of it or my memory is foggy. Either way, it still wasn't a bad internship.

dont do an internship with a regional, anyone can become a regional pilot, do an internship with someone youd like to fly with long term, anyone can be a regional pilot, its who you knows that gets you to a major

if you work your ass off you can make it to a regional in a year, if you do an internship maybe youll save 6 months

do an internship with major and you may save 3 years of working your ass off to get somewhere

p.s. i dont know if something already mentioned this, i dont read everyone elses posts

Default Raytheon

Having just came out of the Raytheon internship (which was a huge springboard to my current position), I can clear up some rumors. Interns used to get typed. Now, they don't. Not fully sure why, but I think it might have something to do with FSI's 1000 hour TT requirement for type ratings. The RAC internship is fun, pays great, you're treated well, and builds some great time (I built 180 turbine multi in 6 months, 125 in the beast BE-1900).

Go for an internship. How do you know for sure you want to be an airline/corporate/whatever pilot if you never get a look behind the door? I did 3 internships during my college years, with experiences spanning from jumpseating on the 777 with AA crews to flying in Kansas hailstorms to the more laid-back corporate environment at Raytheon. Each one taught me something different, and gave me an entirely different set of connections in the industry. After all, it makes you a more interesting person, and sets your application and resume apart from the masses.

Good luck.

Kansas,

Do you think you can give me some more info on the Raytheon, sounds like a good deal.

Hmmm...this is interesting. I know CWU offers internships with Alaska and Horizon, but most kids know they can't get on with Alaska a few years out of college? Horizon on the other hand is much more reachable especially with that direct hire program CWU has. I mean ya it would be really cool to do it at Alaska, but wouldn't it make more sense to do one with Horizon in terms of getting a feel for the company and giving yourself a good image so come interview time you'll feel a little more oriented and know what to expect from the company? I suppose on the other hand a lot of kids are still setting their sights on the majors and by doing it at Alaska 5 or 6 years down the road they might still have a contact they gained during the internship that can help get them the job. Tough choice...

I guess if you are only going to do one internship, it makes sense to do it at a major. Regional jobs are a dime a dozen so having the internship card to play at a major can be far more valuable.
