Work Rules look good.
The fact that the Rates on the Q400 are less then the 50 seat RJ is a disgrace. Something to think about since this is were the growth will be. There will be allot more than just Colgan pilots hurt by these rates as upgrades will be into this plane. |
Guys, the Colgan pilots don't have enough votes to sway the outcome. If you feel the split saab rates are not a good idea...contact the CJC MEC and voice your concerns. They are the only ones that can make a difference.
(I know...I know...they're going to vote YES anyway, but at least you can say you participated in this whole sham of a one-sided "democratic" process...) |
It's important to point out that if I were to bid over to the Saab as a current Mesaba crj pilot, I would not get the grandfathered rate. That is a rate only for current XJ pilots who are on the Saab and will save the company $X amount of dollars for a training event by staying on the Saab.

I don't think it's impossible for a prop to make more than a jet. But I do think that the task will be much easier when there aren't three negotiating committees trying to blend together 3 cultures to produce a TA that results in gains for every pilot group.
The time to fix things is never in the future. It's always now. |

Way to defeatist. Saying that we deserve to get payed less because we already are getting payed less is what got the airline industry in the position in the first place. And if that argument held ANY water, I would point out that pinnacle pilots were also payed less than mesaba pilots for the same work on the same equipment and are now going to be getting the same. Why isn't that in question? Good for the goose...
And as for getting mesaba's pay anyway if we vote no: If we don't get this contract signed then as of the 12 month anniversary of the merger announcement we are to be taken into mesaba's contract. Therefore we will get their current work rules and pay. |

Where did you get that idea? I've never heard that before... If you vote no.. you keep what you have.. Why would you get Mesaba's current contract? Maybe if that really were the case, I'd see your point. Might as well renegotiate off of only Mesaba's contract in a year.. but I don't think that's the way it works at all unless I missed something....

In the current mesaba contract there is a provision that speaks about mergers. They are supposed to get 12 months to get a new contract or mesabas will take precidence over colgan and we are supposed to be given their contract.
Read my post to you in the other thread. |

Only if we're merged... What if they say... ok so we'd rather have Mesaba's name and operating certificate and since the Colgan guys don't want to play ball we're going to close down Colgan and anyone who wants a job can come on over to Mesaba... The protections in Mesaba's contract don't protect YOU as a Colgan pilot... Pinnacle Management said their intention was to merge the two airlines... maybe their intention changes and they dissolve Colgan... This really circles back to the bird in the hand being worth two in the bush... or put another way... better the devil you know than the devil you don't...
