Default Airline apps PIC time??

My PIC time on airline apps does not equal my actual PIC time. Is this because you are unable to log both dual received and PIC concurrently?
American Eagle is looking at my app in a couple of days. I just want to make sure I’m not one of the guys that gets sent home after 10 minutes for having logbook discrepancies.

I have the same issues, and I've got 7000 hours. There's about 100 hours or so of 'gray zone' time and I was told that the only time you can actually log on Airline Apps dot Com is time when you are actually PIC. In other words, if you were receiving instruction in an airplane in which are are allowed to fly as PIC, you may not log it as PIC even though the FAA allows you do do so.

Clear? As mud.

I've got the same worries for any future interviews I might get.

When I had this and interviewed at my current job I simply told them about a couple of minor discrepancies (there were some other small oddities because I worked in Europe and there were a couple of minor differences there in how time is logged) in the interview before we got started. It was not a deal breaker.

Just tell them the truth before they ask about it. They will understand. If they don't, you don't want to work there.

Being truthful in an airline interview is probably the single most important thing. Having slight differences in logged time should not be an issue because of the difference between the FAA definition and how it's done on Airline Apps dot Com.

As long as you weren't trying to pad your numbers, which is a capital crime in aviation.... Doesn't sound like that's the issue, so just be honest.

Relax, just be sure that your airlineapps total time match with your logbook. American Eagle is conscious about this and in your interview paper package you have to write them again in some columns and one of them is DUAL/PIC, then all your flight time will match.

If they send you home in the first 10min is for other stuff if your flight time is correctly. (ex: didn't disclose a checkride failure, or other stuff)

Good luck with your interview, we need more guys here.

I wrote to Airline Apps and the response is below!

Thanks for your question. The only column that usually does not match your logbook is the PIC column. The reason is that the airlines only want you to report the PIC time that meets the FAR Part 1 definition of PIC.

Therefore, you will usually have more PIC time in your logbook than on your application. This is due to the fact that most pilots log PIC time and Dual received for the same flying time, once qualified in an aircraft. The best way to handle those hours is to just report them as Dual received. This will result in fewer hours PIC than in your logbook and all other times matching.

Please let me know if this helps.

Sincerely,
Plato Rhyne

I had the same issue. I low balled my PIC time to account for the Dual/PIC time as a student, so the apps site comes out lower than my logbook totals. I'm hoping this is acceptable to any potential employer should I ever apply.

Some airlines call this the "Flight instructor problem". As stated above, just be certain that the total time on your last logbook page is the same on Airline apps. Just curious, "American Eagle is looking at my app"...?

He got an email stating that they will review his application in two days. They let you do the final tweaks before they print it for your interview.

Most airlines ONLY count the time when you signed for the logbook.
In this case, even Solo is not PIC, as your Flt Instructor is ultimately responsible for teh aircraft.

Overseas airlines often want P1 U/S time broken out. That is PIC Under Supervision, which is when you are in Capt IOE training, and after you get your PIC rating in a specific airframe, and you are actively flying the plane as an FO.
