Junior captain over there has been there over two years (according to APC). Why does someone presume if they get hired now, they will upgrade in a year?

That was my next question. I thought I read there was also the possibility of them losing a couple of their EAS contracts to Gulfstream.
They just lost one to CHQ out of MKE. |

So according to your calculations, at DAL, you guys will negotiate a new contract and pay hikes each year but at RAH, we will NEVER get a new contract, pay increase, and those above numbers stand FOREVER:confused:

Which EAS route out of MKE did they lose? RHI-IWD or MBS or both?

At RAH and other regionals there will be more pressure to keep rates competitive. The relative lack of leverage will make significant increases quite difficult. Then again, this is a strange industry.

sounds all well and good until you realize the fact you are making 15-16 k a year with student loans coming due. At some point pilots have to stop accepting jobs like that until the pay gets to livable. I'm all for paying dues, but you shouldn't have to get turned upside-down financially to possibly get ahead. there needs o be upward pressure from the bottom as far as pay goes. No matter how desperate you are, you need to be willing to make more as a greeter at WalMart than to allow people to make money off of your crap wages.
I was at XJT in early 2000, our pay was not puny in nature but punitive. If you were still an FO after 2 years that is your own fault and here is our collective middle finger from the senior pilots, union and management. B1900D, E120 and ATR upgrades were right at a year and getting less and less. I held ERJ Captain at a 1.5 and would've gone Captain at 2 years. I found out from a union buddy that I held ERJ CA while watching MNF, slept in the next morning and woke up to both WTC towers burning. Needless to say, I didn't upgrade for 4.5 years even though we expanded like gangbusters at CAL's expense but also with 600 pilots from CAL. There is no telling what can happen. What happens to RAH if UCAL adopts CAL's scope? There won't be any room at DAL unless you can force Comair, ASA and Skywest's 70+ seaters out which won't happen because most of those carriers will be reeling from the loss of UAL 70+ seat flying. And what if that inspires DAL pilots to follow suit? But if things stay as is, I'd go to Great Lakes and position myself as best I can for DAL- job fairs come to mind and updating not just submitting ones resume. The A320 will be just as much fun to fly as the E175 and depending on whats going on when hired you could find yourself as many of us did as a new hire in a 767 flying international.
