Republic monthly time

Until they can hold a line. It's all about seniority in base. Some bases are more junior than others. Yes you can easily break guarantee if they need you however if you're looking at it from a financial standpoint budget for guarantee. As far as where they need you the most it's completely in the wind and based on when someone calls sick etc. You can get deadheaded all over the US to fill a single flight.

Depending on where you get sent you might avoid reserve all together. The outstation bases you will sit reserve for a while. If you get in a mx base (IND, CMH, SDF) you might fly a little bit more. I have this hunch that anyone hired onto CHQ might not have to do much time, especially if they can get into MKE or GRR.

As far as how much you fly every month, it will vary. My first few months on reserve I don't think I flew 50 hours. The last couple of months I haven't flown much more than 50 hours, but with deadheads I'm crediting around 80 hours (January and February.)

yep, unless you can get based at home your best bet is to go to the junior base first if you want off reserve. Reserve at home wouldn't be so bad, I've been #1 or #2 reserve in base or bottom line-holder since I've been back. They rarely short call me and most of my stuff is posted a week in advance. Of course I'm not in a mx base. Just depends a lot on circumstances.

Back in 2008, when I was sitting on reserve in Cleveland, I don't think I flew more than 30 hours a month on average. I was usually dead headed to Columbus or Louisville to sit reserve for 4-5 days at a time. That sucked.

If you're picking your airlines based on reserve times, you may be getting into the wrong line of work.

CHQ reserves have it tough to break reserve. They literally have to use you every day or you have to get some high time trips to fall through the cracks. If you get based in ORD or MKE you might get used every day.
