I believe MHK and CYS as well. They also just put in a bid for GRI from what I understand. Almost every Great Lakes flight is EAS. I hope they end the program. It is an insane waste of money. If those communities truly need air service, they would find a way to pay for it themselves otherwise they can drive or find another means of transportation.

I agree. The motto of this site should be changed from "Pilots helping pilots" to "Pilots wishing other pilots out of their livelihoods." or "Pilots b**ching about other pilots".

Really, it gets old.

It's nice to see the caring nature of Man at it's best. I'll sum up this thread in a few short words...."I don't care if this affects anyone...because it doesn't affect me". Just remember, Karma exists no matter what religion you are.

If this happens, you do know that many pilots, FA’s, ramp agents, CS agents, etc. could possibly end up loosing their jobs?

Don’t you (or didn't you) work at Lakes?

Not to mention it is a domino effect to others, workers at these smaller airfields, lost revenue to carriers like UA and F9, airport tenants, etc...

Some people don't think before posting on here. EAS is important, especially for places like Montana where air service is few and far between.

I would like to see EAS gone. From a safety stand point, why am I putting my life in danger going to some of these cites that don't even have passengers. The only reason we go to KVCT is because Ron Paul lives there. So many of these EAS routes are for congressmen to say look what I've done.

The question should be which regional does this NOT affect? According to recent list I found, these are the airlines that operate some form of EAS service;

Mesaba
Great Lakes
Sea Port
Skywest
Pacific Wings
Air Choice One
Cape Air
Colgan
Chautauqua
ASA
Gulfstream
American Eagle

Their could be others as well. This will affect a lot more of you then you think, and a few of these companies stand no chance of surviving without the EAS program. Do the math, that's a lot of pilots, crews and people in general that are out of jobs.

But hey...I have a big name airline on the side of my plane...so I will be just fine!

I'm obviously biased because I work for one of those companies that stands little chance of surviving without EAS, but it's so easy for guys with big names on the side of their plane to forget that when people get off my turboprop, they're getting onto your jet. If this program is eliminated and people can't get from small cities to hubs, it's going to affect major airline's revenue as well. Granted nowhere near as substantially as it would affect my company's revenue, but why would you want any airline to go under? Do you want even more out of work pilots competing with you for your next job? Some of the comments here are ridiculous.

However, the good news is that it appears it's not going anywhere. There are a few Senators who are big supporters of EAS and the amendment stipulating the end of EAS subsidies was voted down in the Senate.
