Rick, I am a SKW pilot and I am here to tell you that SKW does have a .02 rule. Yes they won’t automatically fire you but you will be seriously investigated. SKW has 0 tolerances and .02 is there rule, at .04 you are automatically fired.

 

No it's not a rule of thumb, it's a FAR/AIM.
1) .04 B.A.L.
2) 8 hours from bottle to throttle.
3) Under the influence.
(Referring to alcohol only)

I understand what you mean by tolerances but that is why #3 exists. You should know this so check it out!

 

They are still in shock over their "prophet" being arrested in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago.

 

By rule of thumb he did not mean that 8 hours is a debatable rule. What he meant was that although it states 8 hours based on your body and metabolism you might very well need 12 hours in order to be at the same place that someone might only need 8 hours for. I think having an hour number stated in the regs. is what gets people into trouble. Let's all be realistic. I've gone out and gotten pretty good and sloppy, and even after 12 hours of sleep i will wake up and still feel drunk. I would bet that at least once if i was asked to submit to a test that even after 14 hours i still might not be legal to fly.

8 hours is not gonna solve the problem, all depends on how much you had to drink the night before. We should all get a personal BAC tester, and if theres any doubt then check yourself before you leave the house.

 

Me too. Somebody else said that you are automatically fired at .02, which is not the case. Now, if you blow a .02, there's a good chance they might find out later that you broke the 8 hour rule, in which case you would be gone...

 

sheesh.. what away to end a career. Especially at a great company like SKW. He deserves it if they can him... sad, but true.

 

TSA has the .02 and 12 hr rule here...if we're actually getting on a plane w/ the .02, they'll can us. If we came to them and said the "we need help" line with no intention of boarding an A/C, then we get help, and if the training is completed can return to work.

What exactly did they do? The TSA is not empowered to demand a breath test of me, nor would I allow one to get that close to my face. No, I don't have anything to hide, but that's just offensive, especially from the likes of the typical TSA agent.
