Life after reserve

Default Life after reserve

So..... I hear a lot a horror stories about how reserve stinks but I can walk through a river of poo if I know I will crawl out on the other side. I'm a little ignorant as to the everyday life of part 121 flying. My career has been in the 91, 135, and corporate world but am considering biting the bullet and crossing over to a "descent" regional. What can I expect?

After flying 135 for a while and switching over to being a weeny, or 121 pilot, I've learned a few things.

My experience is different from anyone else's.

You want to come and fly a shiny jet? Come on over.
You want an awesome lifestyle, respect and decent income, become a porn star.

If you commute to reserve it sucks. If you live in base reserve isn't so bad. I've been on reserve all week sitting at home collecting a paycheck.

Reserve is what you make it. Are you waiting to fly or are you awaiting sentencing?

You can expect to finally get off reserve when you are furloughed. At least that's how it goes at a regional in descent, as in final descent.

If you ment a decent regional, I wouldn't know. There might not be any.
