IF.. The planes will not be replaced at all and Delta will continue to walk away from small cities entirely. The pilots will then be shuffled to help with the extreme short staffing elsewhere in the combined company.

I read this yesterday and thought well maybe I'll hear from Mesaba soon. Today I received an email asking me if I want to go to class for Saab LGA June 6th. I'm going to go ahead and take it as in the email they said they do not have any further classes scheduled after June 6th.

Congrats! It's a safe bet that there will be more classes in the near future once the list finally comes out. Remember that seniority is EVERYTHING, and this will put you a head up on those still waiting in line with both 9E and 9L. All of the post 7/1/2010 hires are straight DOH, so get in while the gettin's good.

Quick question for you, how does it work for equipment? Am I seat locked in the Saab for like a year? Not that I want to bid out right away from it, as I would love to eventually take MEM as my base, but just for planning for the future would I be able to bid any aircraft?

You'll have a 1 year seat lock but will be able to bid to whatever domicile your seniority can hold, first year pay is the same across all equipment. After your first year, you can bid to whatever equipment your seniority can hold as long is there is a vacancy. If you were to do so you would incur a 2 year seat lock going FO to FO, or a 1 year lock until you can upgrade to any available captain positions your seniority can hold.

With all the bickering going on about SLI things may seem grim with Pinnacolaba. Granted, there's plenty of BS that'll make you question jumping on the regional band wagon but you're getting on at what seems to be a good time. We all wish we were paid more, had more time off, and better benefits...get used to the constant complaining. If you can stay flexible through the ups and downs you'll be fine. Words of advice for you and others going to training; study (a lot), keep your nose clean, don't drink the kool aid, and check your ego at the door. Thank you for your response. The way I see it, bottom of the pile is bottom of the pile so SLI means nothing to me lol. Good to know about the 2 year seat lock though, something to definitely take into consideration if I decide I have SJS later on. I completely understand what I'm getting into when it comes to pay and time off and benefits, but the way I see it is I am young, I'm starting my career, and Pinnacolsaba seems to be a good place to be at the moment. I'm excited to take the next step and hope to get through training without issue.

Could anyone give me some opinion, I just got asked by Mesaba if I wanted to go to the June 7th Colgan class Saab BOS or IAH. Should I take that or stay in Saab LGA with Mesaba June 6th? I'm looking to commute out of CHO, reason Colgan is tempting is because I could bid IAD eventually... Anyone know how senior IAD is in the Saab at Colgan?

IAD is one of the more junior bases. If you want IAD just go to Colgan since you will end up in IAD in short time. You could still end up there if you went to LGA for Mesaba but depending on the SLI there *could be a fence that may be restrictive although I doubt it would prevent you from moving bases.

Really doesnt make much of a difference since they really are the same company on the same equipment. If you go Colgan you could likely end up in IAD faster than the Mesaba route.
