Default Is it even possible to live in EWR...?

Is it even possible to live in Newark and be a first year regional FO? I am looking to not commute. I have to ability to move to my base, so I want to. Problem is, I want to stay away from high crime and keep rent under a $1000/mo for a one bedroom. I am willing to drive up to 2 hours. Any suggestions?

my only suggestion is to try to get a roomate. It's the 1 thing I could think of. Also some people tend to lease out a room for someone. You could try that (try using craigslist). Good luck

I wouldn't worry too much about crime, as long as you stay in the sterile area. My biggest QOL concern would be the constant announcements on the PA, and the TSA and the Port Authority hustling you.

Seriously, Eastern Penn. sucks if you're single. You will able to find an apartment with a roomate in Jersey City or Hoboken for under a grand. Roommates.com works great, and so does Craigslist.

look to Northwest NJ, like Sussex and Warren county, its Rural, very low crime, and nice. The closer you are to NYC the more crime, but also the better QOL for a younger guy. I live in NW NJ and commute to a regional in NYC so let me know any questions.

I know someone who works at EWR, and lives near Allentown, PA. Says its about 1:30 to the employee lot at EWR. Allentown/Bethleham/Easton area looks decent, and looks like you could find a small aparment for under $1000 - though I'll admit, I haven't searched in a while (about a year - when I though I might get displaced to NYC myself.)

Good luck!

For 1000 you can prob. get a place near S. Orange (Seton Hall) greta little town right on the border of EWR. I rented near there once (room) for around 300/month.....

I've been in EWR since 1996. I moved to Eastern PA: Pocono/Stroudsburg/Tannersville area. I like it here.
