Pinnacle Junior Base

Pinnacle Pilots

I start class next monday and am hoping to get either MSP or DTW as my base. For those of you who know, what are my chances at both?

Thanks!

DL31082 05-29-2011 12:22 PM

100% chance of DTW. MSP there is 0 chance.

tennisguru 05-29-2011 01:49 PM

JFK is a possibility, but that would be very short term at the rate we are hiring. MSP will be a loooong time, especially after the merger. Both Mesaba and Pinnacle are quite senior there.

airborne42 05-29-2011 01:54 PM

what about MEM? and any chance of bidding into the 900's directly? not sure and just curious.

Nope. Not a chance.

airborne42 05-29-2011 02:03 PM

not a chance for the 900 or for picking up MEM base? or both :p

I don't know how senior the 900 is for Mesaba in MEM, but at Pinnacle after the displacement MEM is much more senior too. But I'd say you'll have the opportunity to get into MEM before MSP. It'll just take a while.

Both. Mem is THE senior base for pinnacle. 50 crews were displaced from MEM in April, so those guys will get Memphis before you. Welcome to DTW.

airborne42 05-29-2011 02:13 PM

thanks guys.

what about mesaba though? are they also actively hiring and how many? because I noticed they have lower flight time requirements.

which base would be the most likely one if I were to get on with mesaba?

and I'm a little confused as to how mesaba and pinnacle are different when it comes to work rules or QOL etc. and if they aren't much different, then how come their hiring minimums are?

Congratulations! I'll be in that class doing requal too.

There are many displaced FOs from MSP and MEM that are looking to get back to their spots so I wouldn't hold me breath for either of those. The new hire spots open for this class are DTW and JFK FO in the -200.

If you were to get on at Mesaba, right now you will be going to LaGuardia Saab. Who knows how long that would be for as that base will go away with the Delta/US Air slot swap if it happens, but there are several FO's that got forced there that will be looking to go back to one of the other bases. Basically right now if you are happy with Detroit then Pinnacle is the place to go. Otherwise your only other initial option would be New York City. Minneapols, well as it looks now, don't bother thinking about it. You probably have about as good a shot at LaGuardia captain as you do Minneapolis 900 fo.

azcz10 05-29-2011 05:13 PM

I'm just finishing Pinnacle IOE at JFK and it seems like I've spent more time at DTW than anyplace else. However, my class was 3/14 and I was told by the guys in the class after ours that most if not all of those guys and the future classes were going to JFK. Can anybody confirm that?

I know we've lost a bunch of sim instructors to FedEx and that's gonna slow down training (and probably hiring) until we get some new instructors hired. We lost some really good ones.

New hires - MSP, MEM, ATL...probably not gonna happen. It's either gonna be DTW or JFK from what I've been told.

I believe there were a few new hires that were awarded the 900.

Impossible in MEM... 9E doesn't have a MEM 900 base...yet..

For those in the class on Monday - I'll see you there. :)

By the way - I'll have my car there, and I know HQ is right around there somewhere, but is it worth it to drive, and if I do is a parking pass required? I'm just thinking about the 95ºF temp and walking back and forth. :p

You won't need a car for transportation between hotel and class. A car is very nice to have there though. Good luck!

Are there really any FOs displaced anymore? I was hired post-meger and I can hold and base I want, including ATL.

Definitely no orginal 9E FOs displaced still.

ChipChelios 06-04-2011 05:57 AM

Anyone know what the most Jr 900 FO in ATL is? That's my desired plan B if I ever get displaced.

rightside02 06-04-2011 06:03 AM

I dont know the most junior 900 ATL Fo is, but it is going more junior then it used too. It's kinda both senior and very junior at the bottom. Then again after SLI it's hard to say , then again maybe nothing would change with fences etc ? No one knows very much about that . But I know some really really junior cats got ATL on the 900

I think it's the last XJ guy. Pre- SEP 10 class.

Even MSP? I'm pretty sure there haven't been enough openings yet to get everyone back.

I know a few guys that got them that are after the furloughed mesaba cats . My sim partner is on the 900 and we were in the first street hire class after mesaba. Our class was Sept .

cl601pilot 06-04-2011 09:28 AM

I have the 900 ATL on my list. My hire date is 3/11 and last i looked it should be near the end of the year before I may get it.

In the last vacancy, MSP FO went all the way to #1232

Good to know. I don't ever want to be displaced but if it were to happen, I wouldn't have to cry about it to a bartender if I can get to ATL.

The last one placed there is the most junior!

False statement, don't lead new hires to believe they can hold any base they want out of initial. Mesaba purchase was last July, displacement was effective 4/1, still awaiting SLI so merger is not complete. The most junior FO in ATL may have been on the property less than a year but was not awarded it directly out of initial.

DL31082 06-04-2011 12:04 PM

The most junior FO in ATL was awarded ATL while still in sim training for the 200. He is a mesaba furlough that was in the class right before mine. I hoping to get ATL on this vacancy and my class date is 2/28/2011. I guess I will find out soon.

That must pass for comedy in some parts...I guess.

I know 900 MSP FO on XJ side...almost 4 year guys still sitting on reserve

Same on the Saab-o-Matic

PinnacleFO 06-05-2011 07:30 AM

Question for mesaba guys if you care to answer, where would a mid 2005 hire sit on your list if it was straight date of hire? Would I be on the 900 or 200 as captain or fo? Thanks.

You would be around 460is/1017 and would either be the very bottom 900 CA in DTW or could hold any base as a SF3 CA.

Not quite, You would not be able to hold DTW SF3 CA as a mid 05 hire. You could hold DTW 900 CA or any SF3 CA other than DTW.

And the 900 is going to keep going more senior as Saab guys are displaced.

BE24pilot 06-05-2011 05:06 PM

I apologize I have not read the last four pages but I think all the new hires are going to be going to the Saab in LGA until it closes. I is not going to matter what airline you get hired at because in a couple of days all three will be on the same list and the Saab is going to be the most junior.

Sounds like MEM for PCL. Ridiculously senior.

CFISMM 07-27-2011 07:49 PM

As of right now the three companies are still under seperate certificates. Soon they will get rid of the Colgan name and only operate under Pinnacle(Jets) and Masaba(Props). As far as Pinnacle bases we were told that MEM is ultra senior and JFK and DTW were going to be the junior bases with possibility to hold a line after a few months, but we will see how that works.

New hires will probably be able to get ATL for a while to come. Why they would want that outside of QOL is beyond me. It'll take forever to get off reserve and would be a nightmare commute. The new contract has 12 month position locks. Why would anyone with the senority close to upgrade take a vacancy in ATL for a $2 raise to be locked for a year. Like he said though, depends how the vacancies turn out. I think I'm seeing new hires going to ATL on that last 9E vacancies. Have fun on reserve for eternity though....
