I heard on the line that we had a guy unpgrade in the EMB-120 in 7 months. He had other airline experience, but wow... shortage of pilots at the regionals?

Ya listen to Qcappy, sorry I over-read the captain part of the thread title.

I know we are not taking any on the Beech anymore. We are very low on FO's in some positions, which is leading to ppl being hired under 1000/ 100. Remember that the only reason a union company like Mesa can and will hire DEC's is because they have no qualified FO's for the needed CA's. This just isn't the case anymore. That is all the light I can provide for now.

It was less than 7 mos ago, that Chuck called and offered me an interview for a DEC 1900 position.

If you are talking about SkyWest, the most junior captain in training right now was hired July 28, 2005. The most junior awarded captain is from Aug 2005.

I know, I was being facetious.
It is a little tiring reading responeses to questions where it is obvious that they did read the question.

Remember if you are a street captain all of the young bucks that got hired before you willmove ahead of you once they get the time. After "the crisis" you are on the bottom for a verrrrrry long time.

That is a fact, I guess if your worried about that you could go be an FO and give up the time and be there for even longer with a lower average salary than if you took the CA job. It might save you months on Reserve but to some like myself, who ended up here just to keep the checks coming and already have the 1000 turbine PIC, care nothing about holding a line. I really don't care if I only fly 30 hours a month as long as the check hits my account. In fact if you live in base, QOL can actually be better on reserve than holding a line at many companies. Not condoning DEC's, I know how difficult walking off the street into that seat can be. Just some thoughts.

Very true. A year ago May we hired street captains for the Saab to support the IAH operation. Most (not all) came from Chicago Express. The junior captain hired is...still...the company's junior captain. He's been on reserve and stand-ups for over a year. Of course, he is still a captain (and building PIC time...slowly...but building it).
