Mesa Must Suck

Damn that was well done. I'm just starting to play with video editing on my own PC and have a new respect for movie makers. Good acting, editing, and writing.
I have issues with the MEC seemingly endorsing some of the egregious practices spelled out in the video however. For example, instead of condoning junior assignments with the phrase, "It is a part of life." Perhaps the MEC could say something like, " Until we can negotiate away this QOL issues in our next contract we are stuck with it. We wish Mesa would recognize how disrespectful this practice is but until then we need to handle it in as professional a manner as possible." Then, at least, as the viewer of the film, I would not think the MEC is just a bunch of cool-aid drinkers. As of now I'm really not sure.
Overall though, I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the product.

I was waiting for another "live in a van down by the river" comment- of course if they let you sleep on the aircraft, who needs a trailer?

Wife misses chemo?
Crew Track: "Hi, I am junior assigning you today"
Pilot: "But my wife has a chemo therapy appointment I have to get her to"
Crew Track: "I understand. I am still junior assigning you. Have a good day"
Holy crap, where in life is this EVER acceptable? Even the video narrators comments blew me away:
"Junior assigning is a reality. His wife did miss her chemo appointment, but he handled himself professionally."
I can see the next conversation:
Crew Track: "Hello, I am junior assigning you today"
Pilot: "But today is my wedding day!"
Crew Track: "Oh you're getting married, that's nice! Your show time will be at 8:00am, good luck with rescheduling your wedding!"
Pilot: "But my wife has a chemo therapy appointment I have to get her to"
Crew Track: "I understand. I am still junior assigning you. Have a good day"

The video was professional quality...which means they probably didn't do it on their laptops in the crewroom. I'm sure they spent some dues to hire a professional media shop.

That is actually the HQ number not his personal #, but that would be fun......about 4am...Is this Johnathan yes you have just been J/A'ed to trash duty . I can't speak for the RJ guys but I have never seen or heard of a 1900 crew sleeping on the plane. However, our contract doesn't call for a hotel until 4:01 layovers which is still sad but I have slept a few hours in the MCI crew room....if there is a couch available that is .
Oh and I heard that ALPA let them use their video equipment or something like that to make it. I am actually looking forward to a sequel next month though.

I think a John Stossel "Gimme a break" thing would be good to show people what the regional lifestyle is all about. At ANY regional from good to bad... Then people might realize what a cheap ticket is getting them.
