If you are going the logten route, just a heads up, as of right now you need to upgrade to OSX Lion. I wasn't too happy with that so I posted on their support forum and they let me know that they will have 5.8.2 for Snow Leopard on the app store soon. It will also be eligible for the free upgrade to 6.0. I have been hesitant on upgrading to Lion due to the bad reviews and the fact that some applications are still not working properly on Lion at the moment.
Not really a computer savvy guy, but I think as long as your MAC isn't too old and have a decent amount of memory it should be fine. I have a 2008 MAC and upgraded the memory from 1 GB to 4 GB about a year ago, super easy to do and it really sped up my computer . |

Most people I know use the iPhone or the iPad, not both. Yes, you have to pay for each individually but you pay for what you get. It's the best platform out there plus the support, by far, is the greatest hands down.
I'm officially done with Logbook Pro, their programs are expensive as is and I'm not a fan of trying to milk loyal customers for more money. Screw that. If anything I just want the desktop program to upload my schedule and keep track of my log book, and download info back and forth between my iphone. If that will cost me $200 with no monthly usage fees, then I think it may work, but not interested in getting surcharged again in a year for something I've already paid for. |
I also have the 2008ish Unibody MacBook. I upgraded a few months ago from 4GB of RAM to 8GB. It was well worth the upgrade. I have been reading many people with Office 2011 and Adobe CS 5 problems. I really don't want to risk loosing my projects if I can prevent it. Eventually I will go ahead and upgrade, but it does make you think how apple and developers can give you a run for your money requiring upgrades just to purchase their software. I'd understand if Snow Leopard was aged like Windows XP is today, but it was just a mere 3 months since Lion was released. ok enough ranting.

Thank you every one for your input. This is what i decided to do and why:
I am getting the cheapest no frills version of Logbook Pro. I really wanted Logten but i am converting all my old logbooks to electronic ones. I dont have a Mac so i cant sit down and data input over the computer i would have had to do it via Ipad/Iphone. Thats just to much for me. Also Logbook pro gives you 30 days free schedule import which if they can get it to work with the limited electronic schedules i have access to than it may make logging my last three years a lot easier (emailing back and forth now with IT). Also, if i get all my data entered and start using the iphone app and hate it I can export to excel, convert to .csv, and import to logten. Wala! So thats it. I hope this works out as well as i hope it does. Quick question. I was reading that pro will not recognized time zones unless you enter them in that time zone with phone on. Or if you are using the schedule importer you can enter all the airports you flying to and assign them time zones. This means you cant input local OUT/IN times unless youve done one of those two things. Is this the case with Logten or does it handle time zones automatically so you can enter local times only. |

Anyone know if theres a way to finagle LogTen into working with an Android phone? I had a PC, but switched to a MacBook, yet I still have my Android phone (I think im the only person on the face of the earth to have an Apple computer and an Android phone). Currently I run LogBook Pro through VMWare Fusion (a windows emulator) on my Mac, and it syncs with my phone. Any way to have the phone and Mac talk to each other through LogTen?

I have had Log book Pro for over 9 years. I am now switching over to log10. I will not pay for things that have been free since I staring using it. I can no longer recommend Logbook Pro due to the poor busniess decisions being made by the managment to charge the long time user for the service which where provided for free.

If you were to start out with Logbook Pro and decided to get an iPad and switch to LogTen, would LogTen import the Logbook Pro data?
