Keep in mind, hiring across the board has slowed way down. It was going strong from 2003-mid 2005 and then it has slowly started to fall off. I wouldn't attribute it to your quals (although keep in mind, 700 TT is extremely low time for the airlines). It's starting to get a little more competitive out there.
No Kidding! I was LUCKY to get a job at a crappy regional a couple of years ago with 1600/400...and that only happened cuz two pilots walked my stuff in and bugged the recruiter on a weekly basis.
At 700 TT, your CFI career is just getting warmed up. If you get to 2500/500 with no calls then start to be a little concerned...

My advice would be to get your MEI, move to some place where you can build time quickly, like a busy FBO near a large city. If you are building a lot of time and still not hearing much, try companies like Airnet, Ram Air or Ameriflight. They are always hiring, you will build multi and instrument time very quickly and all airlines love a freight dog. Plus you will become one hell of a pilot and accumulate some awesome stories. Some of the most interesting guys I have met in this business were, or still are, freight dogs.

I'd relax with the whole "Oh my God, why am I not getting called?!?!?!" thing. Not to sound like an @$$, but at 700TT I don't think you would be considered "competitve" for most regionals. You might meet their mins, but that's a different story. Relax, be a CFI (or whatever it is you do) for awhile longer and enjoy the fact that you're at home every night. You'll miss it when you're at the Red Roof Inn in Clevland fighting with your girlfriend cuz she only got to see you once in the last two weeks.

And yes, hiring across the board has slowed down. I saw an ALPA survey that put it significantly down in the last few months, in fact it has been on a downward trend since August 2005.

i just got hired on with TSA (at ~1000 and 30) and the guys i interviewed with said they had large classes starting each of the next 3 months
i know it's TSA, so it's not too suprising, but it's always an option

Are you sure it's TSA? Word is they have been pulling a bait & switch...you show up for new-hire class, and they start handing out GoJets manuals! You can either stay (and get on the blacklist) or leave and try to get your CFI job back...DOH!
