Compass = Go Jets?

The very simple answer is that while in most professions people make 8 hours of pay per day and 250 work days per year = 2000 hours of pay per year.... pilots dont.... Let say for example I make my current 2nd year pay here at 9E which is $24/ hr at a normal job. That would mean I would make $24/hr x 2000 hours per year = $48,000. Which is still kinda tight. Now lets get to reality. Lets say for one second I'm an insanely hard worker and in the first 10months of the year I fly 100 hours per month an complete my 1000 hours for the year. Then the last two months my company will pay me my gaurantee of 75 hours per month. So theoretically the most I will ever make in a year will be 1150 hours assuming this situation. So in this case I have the potential to make $24/hr x 1150 hours = $27,600 for the year. Then figure in my perdeim (on average I work about 12 to 13 days a month) so for figuring purposes we'll say my perdeim adds up to be about $400 per month. Making a total income in this case $27,600 + (400 x 12) = $32,400. Now lets use some more realistic figures on average this year I have worked about 85 hours per month so well predict me to fly 1020 hours for the year ( which I cant do per FAR 121) so well make the pay prediction (85 x 11) + 75 = 1010 hours of pay(since my last month I wont be able to fly my last 20 hours my pay will be gaurantee for that month). So my predicted income for this year would be 1010 hours x $24/hr = $24,240 + per deim $4,800 = $29,040 for the year. Now take taxes, benefits, health care , 401 K out of all that and I take home even less. As for my desires and expendetures well that consists 99% of my car payment, living expenses, student loans (gotta pay for that college education), rent (gotta live somewhere on my days off), phone bill ect. So please LAFF do tell me in your infinante wisdom which one of those massively desirable expendatures I dont need and I should learn to control....
