You need one and it is not supplied. There are talks of jepp sets or EFB but I wouldn't hold my breath. Coyote works makes an awesome chart case but you are looking at 300 bucks vs a cheapo (40 bucks) chart case from staples. You wont need it until two weeks into training and the coyote works guys have a payroll deduct system set up so it is basically a 0% loan that you pay back $25 dollars a paycheck. If you go with coyote works make sure to get the metal skidplate on the bottom. If it is going to fail that is where it will happen. If we get new airplanes which is what is bound to happen I am guessing they will have EFB on them or jepp sets. I dont think i would buy the expensive case now. I would gamble that we are a few years away from not having to carry all our stuff around.

Thanks for the info!
I already have one of the cheep-os from my last airline and I was trying to decide if its worth the money to replace it.
I was looking at the Scott cases but I'll check the coyotes out as well.
Cheers!

I waited til I got to training and bought the 79 dollar luggage works vinyl flight case. You can snag it from the stopover store at the IAH mariott. Its a great deal. Holds all the jepp binders FOM and CFM. I bought mine the second day of training cause you have to haul all those manuals around everyday. Minus the Jepps; but you will also have to carry a grey sign off folder and another 2 inch training binder, plus the CFM vol 2 for training. You get all your jepps and manuals the second day of training. By the way its still going strong 8 months later. Alot of people have them and swear by them. I cant see spending 300 bucks on a leather flight case unless thats something youve been really itching to buy.
Oh and for jepps get 3 two inch binders and 1 one inch binder for misc. stuff and hubs. You can get away with 2 two inch binders but its tight.
EDIT: oh nevermind.. i see you already had one from the last airline, I didnt read that closely... carry on.

From: 7ER B...whatever that means.
I second the Luggage Works $80 bag. Had mine for almost 6 years now and it's still going strong. I couldn't imagine getting much more utility out of a $300 Coyote Works or any other bag. For the record, I am NOT a commuter (yet) so your mileage may vary if you travel with your flight case.
And I've been hearing EFBs since I got hired almost 6 years ago :P

FYI....Coyote Works is longer in business. The new company is Hunt Manufacturing. The bags are pricey....but they are the best built ones I've ever seen. I have mine five years and it's barely showing any wear. The skid plates on the bottom of the bag are priceless.

The Hunt bags ( used to be Coyote Works) are made locally in Houston by an XJT pilot. When I ordered mine last year I went by and picked it up from his shop, he was just around the corner from where I lived. This guy is a true craftsman and uses great material to construct your bags. I felt even better about my purchase after seeing the materials and skill that went into making it. The skidplates are a must and great. Everytime I hear my bag scrape I know I have those plates down there.
I can understand a new FO being cautious about dropping that kind of money on 1st year pay (I waited for upgrade for mine) but if you are in the market for a great bag, this is the one. I also like the idea of supporting a fellow pilot in his small business.

You mean the IAH Marriott? It's in the airport. Go outside security, go down to the bottom of the stairs where baggage claim is, catch the train to the Marriott, and it's on the second floor I believe.
