Default Eagle QOL

Hey guys what's the QOL like over at Eagle? I got an invitation to interview, so I need to start seriously thinking about if I want to jump ship.

How many days off do RSV guys get?
Can you trade your RSV/OFF days?
Do you bid early/late?
Is there a long call?
How long is the call out?
How often do you sit ready reserve (aka hot, airport appreciation, etc)
Does scheduling assign trips as soon as they know you'll be working, or do they wait for the last second to notify you?

What equip is based in BOS?

How long to hold a line?
How many days off do line holders get?
Can you drop trips?
If so, how far down can you drop?
Can you trade with open time?
Do you have access to crew trac?

Anything else that you love or hate about Eagle?

I've seen the posts about the AA recalls and 600 potential new hires; but if that doesn't pan out how do you feel about life near the bottom of the seniority list?

11

Can you trade your RSV/OFF days?
Technically yes, but the normal response is "denied due to staffing". If staffing improves, that my change

Do you bid early/late?
Opens on the 15th or 16th of the month depending on the month and closes 5 days later.

Is there a long call?
No

How long is the call out?
2 hours

How often do you sit ready reserve (aka hot, airport appreciation, etc)
Depends on seniority. If you are at the bottom, then it could be every day because standby is the only line you can hold. After a few guys come in below you it will be infrequent. Once you are more than about 5 from the bottom in base you wont be on ready ever, unless you want it

Does scheduling assign trips as soon as they know you'll be working, or do they wait for the last second to notify you?
They have a window for you to proffer for trips, in seniority order. After that window closes they begin assigning trips. I believe you will know by 5 pm the day before but I havent been on reserve for a while.

What equip is based in BOS?
EMJ only

How long to hold a line?
Don't know about boston. I could look it up but I am lazy right now. I'd say atleast a year as of today, subject to change.

How many days off do line holders get?
Any where from 11 on up to a max of about 19 with the average being 15. It all depends on what you bid and what you can hold.

Can you drop trips?
Yes, but once again, usually "denied due to staffin"

If so, how far down can you drop?
Theoretically the whole month but you wont get it.

Can you trade with open time?
It is allowed

Do you have access to crew trac?
Crew trac? Don't know what that is

Anything else that you love or hate about Eagle?
Long upgrade time but there has been a slow trickle of upgrades. With AA anouncing a small recall I bet we see in increase in upgrades but it will still be a slow upgrade. If fast upgrade is what you want, then don't come here. If a stable company with good equipment, good facilities, and good co-workers then come on down. QOL over all is pretty good. We have decent (by the declining standards of good in this industry) benefits package. Health care is pretty good, dental is okay, life, etc. In my opinion one of our biggest problems is the lack of staffing right now. If then you will see the swaps and the drops again but right now they aren't staffed well enough. You also get unlimited travel with AMR for you and your family, but with less than 5 years seniority you do pay. MCO to DFW costs about $10 which in principle really sucks but still isn't too bad. Pay is on par with most other companies out there.

I've seen the posts about the AA recalls and 600 potential new hires; but if that doesn't pan out how do you feel about life near the bottom of the seniority list?
If we take the recall theory and stetch it to the max, then about 500 captain seats open up. That added to the fact we are 25% understaffed (rumor numbers running around the crew room, take it as you will but I doubt it's too far off) and you are poised for some movement. However, we have no plans for new aircraft and new flying so that says stagnation. Looking at the flow plan there are about 50 retirements next year. This is not counting the many people who are getting hired by the likes of FedEx, UPS, Southwest, corporate, leaving the industry, etc. If you get hired on now you will not be at the bottom of the list, however, upgrade won't be tomorrow either.

Hope that helps a little.

What I like about Eagle.

401K company match is good. My QOL is great. i hold atleast 15 days off and get to watch my son 3 whole days a week. I work 2 day back to back trips so I am home every other night while I am working. This month day 1 starts at 10:00 AM fly 8 hours (12 hour duty) and I am done day 2 at 12:30 PM day3 same as day 1 and day 4 same as day 2. People on this board complain about our pay but, it is right there with all the other top regionals. I made 40 K last year on 3rd year pay flying ERJ. Being based at DFW and living there 40 K goes a long way. Th people I work with are great and have a lot experience to share. Upgrade is long but if the flow backs are recalled quickly upgrades will be quick. I have often thought about leaving for the quick upgrade but Eagle is stable and a good company to work for. So I stay.

Good luck to all

Another question for the Eagle beagles. Can a pilot with experience have any choice in their aircraft placing? I am not seriously thinking of going there because I am well established at my own company, but could a pilot with lots of CRJ time pick CRJ out of ORD? Just curious. I used to be based in ORD and loved it and wish I was still there.

When you arrive for Day 1 of the newhire training they sit everyone down and put the available A/C and bases up on the board. They start with the oldest person in the class and let them chose what they want, and move down the list until all the slots are filled. I would say avg newhire age has been around 25-30, so if you are over that then you should have a good shot of chosing first.

That's a bunch of BS if that is the way they decide on which AC go to who. In my opinion it should all be done experience of the pilot, not age.

Age us usually how seniority is calculated when date of hire is the same. At least that is how it was at my current company.
