Does anyone commute from Southern Ohio (Dayton, Cincy, Columbus area) to ORD? How hard would that commute be, and what factors should I look at to see if it is going to suck, or be easy (as commutes go)? Any and all advice will be appreciated...

My sister-in-law is a FA for Skywest and lives in CMH, commutes to ORD all the time. I haven't heard too many complaints from her about the commuting. However, she does have to be preppared to use a crash pad or stay in a hotel, if a flight back to CMH can't happen due to duty schedules, etc. Then again what works for a FA's schedule may not work for a pilot.

CVG-ORD would be the best as there are 22 flights a day. If you can always commute hub-to-hub. (If you can call CVG a hub anymore).
I used to commute EWR-CLT. Since EWR had ground stops and EDCTs almost daily I'd keep track of the flights that departed throughout the day.
I'd print a list of all the flights CLT-EWR on the day I was going home and cross off them as they departed (or were cancelled). So when I was done with my trip at 7pm in CLT I'd know which flight was going to depart next. Some days I'd be on the 2pm CLT-EWR flight at 8pm because of ground stops and EDCTs. Had I not had my list I'd never know the 2pm flight had not left yet.

eSkyGuide - world wide fight schedules
OIS - see which airports are running EDCTS, ground stops, airborne holding and excessive taxis
EDCT LOOKUP - Look up EDCTS of some flights.
Get to know the gate agents and bring them "gifts". If you can get the gate phone number you can give them a call to get the latest info when the weather in ORD goes to crap.

jackal24's post was the flame bait and inciting the riot, not mine and you know it. You knee-jerk reactionary anti-Go Jetters can't leave well enough alone. This thread has (or at least had) absolutely zero to do with GJ. But people like jackal and you just have to sneak in their comments and wreck an otherwise "legitment"
thread.Don't play dumb. (or a "jag"
)
