Im VERY glad you dont work for RAH. Im one of those junior guys that would get a raise and im completely against it. Agreeing to this raise would take all leverage away from the nc. It would essentially stop negotiations as this is the company's only motivation at the moment. Im way more interested in a new contract with cx pay, rigs, reserve rules, min day, etc. A few extra dollars does not compare to the raise we'd get with soft pay on a new contract. Thinking this is a nice gesture by the company is naive at best. Ill make a little extra money in the short term, but ill lose a whole lot more long term.

 

I don't have a dog in the fight, but looking at the bigger picture, it is obvious that RAH management is increasing pay (skewed for the first few years) to attract new hires because they are not showing up for class! The pilots union is trying to use this as leverage, if they allow the company to just make small changes to the contract here and there to fit their desires then you will never see a contract, 5 dollars an hour is a large amount of money, we are talking somewhere between 350 & 500 dollars a month, and we are talking and increase of over 20% in pay. But having those rates locked in on the contract is worth more than this! With AMR looking to "diversify" their feed, your management will be pressed to have agreement in place and be able to show they can staff the airline, now if Eagle gives the boot to a few 100's then RAH shouldn't have an issue getting a few 100's pilots, but this is leverage that the union can use!

 

So let me get this straight. You don't want Republic to raise FO pay when it doesn't cost other pilots anything... You want to wait for negotiations where Republic will say in order to increase FO pay (which we have to do), we must get that money from somewhere else, like Captain pay? Remember that a contract is only worth so much money. How that pie of money is divided is a game of give and take.

I just don't understand your line of reasoning. Take the free money while you can.

 

Thats a thing of the past. The company is just over a year away from needing all their FOs to have an atp. Bringing under qualified candidates in will only hurt the company at this point. Any other bright ideas you want to throw out there?

 

This is not free money. Ill lose money in the long run over this. You just arent capable of seeing the big picture here. No point in trying to explain it again.

Read and heed guys! There is a great wealth of factual information of life here at RAH. The only thing I would add is the fact that this company has furloughd pilots three out of the previous four consecutive years. They ONLY reason there were no 'imposed' furloughs in 2011 was due to the pilot group taking voluntary furloughs, if only to escape this place for a few months. Be prepared to be treated like seasonal migrant workers here as displacements are a frequent and regular occurance as well as sitting reserve away from your base/domicile. If you can afford to be furloughd in the fall and work in the spring and summer, then this place is for you! Please gather as much information as possible before quitting a paying job to come here. Actually, they are taking away from the senior pilots, and every other RAH pilot.

I'll repeat the last 5 posts in a simple fashion:

• Company needs to entice new pilots, and company is negotiating with pilot union.
• Company has two choices: 1) Offer bonus to get new pilots (illegal) or 2) negotiate better contract with union (legal).
• If the company chooses 1, they are in no rush to accomplish 2. All pilots lose.

Does that help explain it?

 

Please don't compare Compass to a trashy place like RAH. You just embarrass yourself in the process.

 

Hilarious. Compass is just the next in a long line of regionals to come along thinking they are somehow different and better than the rest. Just wait until you enter heated negotiations with hulas. Youll sound exactly like we do now. You're no different.

 

Obviously you have no idea what is happening. The Senior guys aren't trying to keep the junior guys from getting a raise. EVERY PILOT AT RAH is saying HELL NO to this. Junior, Senior, and everyone in between. Since you have no dog in this fight, and since you obviously don't know what is happening here, why not just butt out?
