Default ATP requirements for Eagle FO's

I just read the E-mail, our training department will start doing ATP checkrides and issuing type ratings statring in August. The catch is you must have a current ATP written, not an expired one.

Correct. They didn't say what would happen if you don't.

Requires an ATP written dated within the last two years. Even though people say it doesn't expire while employed at a part 121 airline. I already have my ATP so I'm concerned their not going to give me a free type rating. Hmm.

Per the NPRM, after July 31 next year you will have to have an ATP and a type rating (not a SIC type) to be a F/O in 121 ops. So they'll have to give you a type if there are no changes to the final rule.

The ATP written doesn't expire while at an airline ONLY if you use it toward an approved Part 121 carrier's upgrade curriculum. Since FO's aren't going through upgrade, the ATP written must be current to be issued an ATP certificate during a recurrent PC.
