So, let me ask you, if it was a white male, would he still have had this opportunity? Does Delta routinely handout free 737 type ratings to pilots that go work directly for its competitors like Spirit?

And lets not be PC or anything like that, but I hope she realizes that being female and a miniority is the best combination you can have in this industry! That's two checkboxes the hiring committees can sign off on just one applicant.

I don't think a white male would have fared as well unfortunately. It's a tough pill to swallow when we can look back only 50 years ago when minorities were marching for equality, to be judged by their character and not by the color of their skin.

Oh, the irony.

As we are on the topic of requirments for the majors... What do they think about not having a 4 year degree? I know the regionals dont really mind anymore as I'm employed by one and know many regional pilots without their bachelors but how do the majors feel about it? After high school I went to A&P school and worked as a mechanic first. Is it really worth it to start working on a 4 year degree with some sort of online program? Or is it possible to make it without it?

Shy, ur brain is quaint. Who knows how u come up with the stuff u do. I actually went to school w/her, & she's got looks too, I might add.
A white male doesn't have opportunity? Thats just crazy talk. Who are predominantly in the seats of the flight deck?
Unfortunately, ur grandparents made mistakes and all this EOE crap exists today. Don't hate tht FO because she took an opportunity DAL is forced to give because of law suits they lost.

Sorry I'm late, just rumaging around for that ten foot pole.....

Office Space is on...rather fitting to the PCL situation. So many good qoutes...."Ask yourself, 'Is this good for the company'?".

Of my friends who fly, I don't know of any advantage the non-white non-males have had. Matter of fact, one of my friends who is having lots of difficulty finding a job is a minority.

I wouldn't be too bothered though. White males still dominate cockpits, so what's the problem?

Im guna help you see how foolish your comment is. What ur saying is, if a black, because you mention the civil rights marches, cant shoot a single eng ILS, hand flown to mins or balls up an abort on his/her checkride, they will still fly ur family around simply because their black?!

I thought we had come a long way, but maybe not.

Maybe I should start the AWAP. Seems fitting.

Thomas Edison State College: Aviation Flight Technology

You can even get credits for your A&P licenses on top of any ratings you have. :)

Anything that pays as well and you would want to do, IF you weren't a pilot requires a degree, even an advanced degree--get one! You can't be certain you will be picked by a major, you don't know what health or the economy has in mind for you--be prepared.
