To address the original question.

As long as people are willing to treat this profession more like a hobby and less like a career, then the answer is no.

I get the feeling they (pilots) treat the 'career' like a hobby out of frustration. One of those flip things a teenager says to get some points with his peers...

You may work in an office but I get paid to fly...Hell, I'd do it even if they didn't pay me just for the view...

Seems self defeating...

I bet if they had a school to be a rock star thousands of people would pay $80,000 to attend an be willing to live in poverty just so they could get up on that stage everynight. The difference is that this is reality for pilots.

I do have one question. I know how the pay scales work for pilots but is the attrition so high that RJ pilots can only compete for $20 and hour and the guys flying 747's can make over $100 and hour because there are less of them out there?
