Bender is correct. Commuting sucks for almost any reason. It's wasted time you never get back.

Depends on your perspective of whether or not it is a privilege or necessary. In my first 5 1/2 years as an airline pilot I was in 6 differnet domiciles. 4 were due to closure, downgrade, displacement, or furlough. Could you imagine picking up and moving every 10 months?

If I was some fresh out of college type in my early twenties, maybe.
