Its Official...XJT CrJ Base In DFW For AA
From an official source.
|
Hope it's true! That's gonna go ultra senior
|
"These 11 CRJ200s will be ExpressJet aircraft flying under the American Airlines code, with the American Eagle name."
Crazy. Guess AMR owns the name and is changing how the business model works. |

Is there any odds of a new hire class being started to fill the new dfw base?

Plus, the DFW base will go very senior |
The fact sheet on the company website said that this announcement itself wouldn't lead to more hiring since this is just a shift of aircraft that were being retired from the Delta operation.
|
Sorry to hear this. I'm sorry for the hard working pilots at Eagle who are seeing their flying erroded.

No, this is not growth. It's just a transferring of planes. Hiring for attrition only

But how does this effect the total picture with some of the 200s going to new flying with the larger RJs coming online as well soon?
Assuming everything is split close to even, ExpressJet is gaining 0 aircraft; losing 5+ by 2015. |

Yes, the joy of possibly benefitting from another's loss is still alive and well in the airline pilot profession. I understand you may say you didn't mean it like that, but isn't it interesting that's the first reaction ? :(
I don't mean to sound harsh, but seriously, that's how contractors work. If one paving company loses a city contract to another paving company, so be it. If one taxi company loses an airline crew contract to another taxi company, so be it. Sucks for 1 side and not for another. |

Um... Its AA, they are a little behind the times if you havent noticed. Sorry about the LAX base guys but good news youll be recalling!
This move is just enough to both start a process they're going to anyway and just enough of a love tap to send the message they want. Once they get the agreement with the pilots, then they are free to act with impunity. Horse before cart. |

I know what you're saying, but that is business and life. I left Comair and am now flying for ExpressJet. Am I benefiting from my own loss?

Unfortunately, this is the future. You will all be pitted against each other having to defend your flying periodically FROM each other as outsourced contractors. Difficult how to see that not getting emotional. |

I understand, my friend. How do you think my employer and all of the pilots felt when L-UAL said BYEEEE and gave all our flying, which we flew for a couple decades, to mostly gojets and some others?

BTW: You don't want to see some of the comments on the company website. Way too many "Hurray", "Yeah" and "Great job getting this flying" comments, mostly from FAs and various ground personnel. |

The downside is that once this model is in place, everyone ends up being the side that "sucks". In the not to distant future, that reality will be back around to tap you on the shoulder and you'll have decide how cheap you're willing to work for or watch your flying shifted elsewhere.
You're on top this go around, so enjoy it, but within 4 years someone else will be repeating your words back to you on this forum. Why anyone holds any kind of resentment towards any other group of pilots is beyond me. It's not like the pilots went in and took your flying. We are all just chess pieces in this big game being moved around by management without any control over our next move. If anything you could be resentful to the management group of the other company, but why anyone would feel resentment to other pilots is beyond me. Everyone is here to work and to make money, which in itself is laughable because nobody is making any money. The cake goes around the room. One time you get it, the next time it's someone else and you're left with an empty plate. That is why everyone who has their head on straight should be trying to get out of the regionals, or get out of this sh**ty industry all together. |

That's how the industry functions, haven't you realized this yet? The regionals didn't start operating yesterday.

Nice idea in theory, but the above example demonstrates it's hopeless in reality. |

Because the 50 seater does still have a place in the market. It just didn't play as big of a role now. Plus, AE will be losing EMB135/145 aircraft to retirement and some of that lift will need to be replaced.

Dear Eagle, welcome to the regional battle that has ensued for many years. Up until now, you have been relatively immune. But the reality is regional airlines do not own any flying. Mainline partners do. And they bid it out to their contractors Do I feel for the Eagle employees? Yes. I have been in their shoes. I've been furloughed, recalled, then had my airline disappear. Do I feel ill will for the other pilots that got my flying? No of course not |

Well apparently mainline doesn't own their flying anymore either because the APA fought hard as hell to keep it. AMR was able to get the judge to abrogate their contract and their scope. APA didn't sell it!
And your baseball analogy is flawed. I liken this cheering more to when you watch a football game and someone on you team take a career ending injury. There will be those who share their deepest sympathies and those who cheered for the great "hit".

to the last 3 posts, esp the first one. Dont think this isnt immune to come back around, we might get spun off with our ch11 lower costs, and be bidding on your flying. The goal is stop the this cycle and try and level the playing field both on pay and longevity to prevent it from being so easy by management. Your oh well it will happen mentality is how it continues.
