only saving grace for a few months is no-one will be geared up to carry the extra lift in the holiday season, and even Jan-Mar isnt long enough when spring break - summer hits so who knows, maybe they will deal with it until next fall.

Very wishful thinking...

Delta just can't pull the financing if they don't like what's going on. No need to provoke fear.

My understanding is most of this (BK) is to secure future growth. Sure we could liquidate but I don't think it will happen for a couple of years.

The problem is the operation is running at a deficit on a monthly basis, based on what Delta is paying versus expenses. The $30M will be gone by mid-December if they don't get 1113 relief and there will be no money to make payroll. This makes their unwillingness to save $4-9M on 12-04 even more puzzling.

Being the debtor in possession, can't Delta put requirements in place PCL must meet to receive the cash?

That is exactly what Delta told Comair's BK judge in their 1113 motion against ALPA. It worked (I mean the argument worked, not the grow Comair part. We never grew again.)

While I wasn't completely sure the history behind Comair's 1113, this is my suspicion all along. The profits made off of accepting the company's proposals would only go to upper management and to satisfy the shareholders. If they want to close the doors here, I'm sure the decision has already been made. Giving them their initial asks will not guarantee arrival of new airplanes or future growth. Only to maximize profits off the backs of hard working men and women until they shut it down.

What's puzzling?

They have to make it look like they need the concessions.

If our union is saving them money, the horror, they won't get what they want out of the bankruptcy court.

All part of the plan.

other then that yes they cant train all those people, and i dont think people realize just how many folks have left from the bottom of the list, id guess 400-600 meaning that captain line at 50% has gone even further up than most thought.
With the way they are running things, they want it to die... soon.
Frankly with what they are asking to stay alive... I would rather buy the bullet for them and end it quickly.

Bingo.... Delta doesn't want ANY 50 seaters and has already planned to dump all of them in the next couple years. Killing Comair was a no brainer, killing Pinnacle is only slightly less... plus it gives them the bribe (the xj 900's) to kill off all the rest of the 50 seaters. Very schrude of this management team.... they (NWA/ Delta) have been planning this longer than many of the employees have been around....
