Default The "Outside" View of Pilots

I recently was hired as an FO in a CRJ-200 and from one of my friends I got the comment, "So you are going to be a real pilot now?" I couldn't help but chuckle before my reply of, "I know, I hated being a fake pilot." So I thought I would start a thread to ask if anyone else has gotten comments such as this that we can laugh about.

My favorite one is:

"So you're the co-pilot?" "and the pilot flies the airplane...what do you do?"

I cringe when I hear the phrase "co-pilot".

"You look a little young to be my pilot" (I'm 28)

"Does the pilot let you fly?" (my own grandmother)

I propose an FAA mandate that all passengers shall be gagged and bound before boarding, for their own safety of course.

Walking around campus and telling them I am a Human Factors major. What's that they'll ask. I'll try to explain but they usually nod when I mention my Commerical ratings. "Oh so...do they like let you fly by yourself?" "So you get to fly for real when you graduate?"

Oh college kids....
