Yep - we interchange between the 135/140/145. The 135 is great about over-rotating, especially when they're light. There are some pay issues concurrent with switching around on the captain side of things.

At Republic, at, say, DCA or PIT are those junior, and can you get off reserve pretty quick?

CHQ pilots can fly the 135/140.145 interchangeably. The 170's and 175's at Republic will also be flown interchangeably. IF Shuttle gets 175's, then those pilots will also be able to fly the two aircraft interchangably. And since the 190 is the same type rating as the 170/175, a pilot will be able to fly the 190 as well if ever that comes to be. As a pilot on the master seniority list, your ability to change aircraft and certificates is based solely on pay increase. You can bid for any increase in pay. Since all FO's are paid the same, you are essentially equipment locked as an FO, and company locked (if at Republic as an FO, you cannot bid over to Shuttle FO. Even though it is the same equipement, there are procedural differences that require retraining). The pay hierarchy, from bottom to top, is as follows: 1) all FO 2) 135/140 Capt 3) 145/CRJ Capt 4) 170 Capt (up to 78 seats, this may include delta 175's) 5) 175/190 Capt. (Airways 175s will be 86 seats and therfore top pay)

If you are at CHQ, and are a 135/140 captain, you get paid the 145 rate for all the time you fly a 145 that month. Same goes for 170 Captains who fly 175's or 190's for part of the month. Again, you can only bid to an increase in pay. A 135 captain could bid CHQ CRJ, Shuttle 170, or Republic 170. A 145 Captain could bid Shuttle 170 or Republic 170, or bid to a 135 base (same type rating, so it is allowed even though it is pay decrease- company doesn't have to pay for any additional training) and then bid the CRJ. Shuttle 170 captains and Republic 170 captains are currently stuck, as no Republic 175 CA bids have been added yet. But once a 175 bid is announced somewhere (and it is configured for more than 78 seats), then Shuttle pilots can bid over to Republic.

All in all it is highly convoluted. Just keep in mind that the pay rules and bidding rules in place now were written when there was only one certificate, and there were only 135/140 captains, and 145 captains. It was simple then. Contract negotiations begin next year, and it is likely that this process will be simplified at that time. For now we are stuck with what we have. But yes, it is a master list and pilots can bid between aircraft and certificates.

DCA is junior, and there are a lot of junior guys at PIT as well, at least as far as F/O's go.

I'm pretty sure DCA is the most junior FO base for Republic. PIT - not so much.

OK, so if hypotheticly if an F/O is hired as an EMB 170 f/0 (Republic), and a 175 based was announced within Republic, that F/O can bid for that base? Also as far as seatlocks for F/o's, what if a base is downsized, can they then bid F/O to another aircraft to keep them in that city, as opposed to having to leave as long as their seniority can hold it? Also, how long is reserve in DCA?

Yes, that Republic FO could bid to a new 175 domicile at Republic. As for base downsizing, an FO has to stay on equipment type (135/140/145, 170/175/190/195, or CRJ) as long as there are positions elsewhere in the system and pilots junior to him/her. If you are most junior pilot on the equipment system wide, then you would be displaced to another aircraft. So an SDF CRJ FO who gets displaced due to downsizing would have to go another CRJ base, and cannot bid to be a 145 FO in SDF.

As for reserve in DCA, I do not know how long it is currently running. But the Republic fleet is growing from 28 to 58 aircraft in the next year and a half, so overall your time on reserve should not be more than a few months. Who knows if DCA will stay junior if and when new domiciles are announced.

Did Republic remove MCO(Orlando) as a domicile. I thought I remember seeing it as a CHQ(I can't spell it) domicile. I know things are in flux there, but just checking to make sure I'm not making things up.

Yes, Chautauqua closed their MCO base.
