PNCL, just like most places involving airplanes in the sky- are rumor mills. There are alot if/could/may/possibly/looking rumors going around. The ones that have some kind of truth is... NWA is PNCL's daddy and daddy is buying CRJ-900's... PNCL wants em, so does mesaba which means we may get them, they may get them, or someone else could get them. The pilot contract is an ongoing thing- eventually we will get a contract, as to when?- I'm not going to even speculate on when. The talk is that second year pay goes up and even a little first year, in addition to the typical inflation adjustments across the board. The big issue is Trenary's agenda to start another cert with non-union labor. The other of concern is the "if" on new planes of more than 50 seats. There needs to be a pay increase for the increase in equip. Last is PNCL is making money, yet the pay is low. I had one CAPT tell me that even with mesaba's pay cuts a same year capt still makes more then he does. There is alot of speculation and Kellwolf will surely pop in here sometime soon and fill in the blanks or other rumors from my post. all the people I have run into are nice people, the issue is mgmt vs. pilots- but isnt it always?

pncl just told an interview class to go home yesterday...no interviews. The reason? "We are about 90 FOs fat"...Good luck here and I wish you the best, but if anyone has other cards to play (airwisky, express, chq, etc...), it may not be a bad idea to re-evaluate your career options.

I'm waiting on an answer from PNCL after interviewing a lil while ago. Spoke to a lady in HR who couldn't tell me my status, but told me they have cancelled all interviews/new hire classes till the end of the year.

Can anybody confirm? Grrr..... weird....

A old CFI buddy just confirmed that they have cancelled classes until no earlier the Feb of 2007. I haven't heard about them being "fat" but weren't they skinny not to long ago?

I don't know... I just hear so many different things from different people. I didn't mean that as an insult to anyone, I just would like to know the truth.

they may be 90 FO's "fat" but the prob is they are deadheading reserves up to DTW from MEM cause they dont have enough there (my entire class is getting sent there in a few weeks though) and they are shorthanded across the board on as far as the captains. Attrition is what it is and captains are moving on or getting calls back from furloughs. I was hearing the need for at least 30 more capts in each base from a group of captains that were at the sim building for PC's. There would be 90 FO's right there! Mgmt thought they were cute by cancelling the last capt vacancy- why? only thing anyone can gather is the attempt to bring added pressure on the negotiations for a pilot contract.
